Finished up the belt last night!
I had a big enough scrap of leather in the leather bin to use as a base. I wish it’d been a LITTLE bit taller (like maybe 1/2 inch) but this was all we had to work with, and I didn’t want to go buy something new. I made a casing out of the green vinyl for it… btw that vinyl is WEIRD. it’s super thin and lightweight, resilient… but it feels like a deflated balloon on the right side, and I constantly felt like I was going to rip it. But like I said, it was resilient and pretty tough! I liked the fabric backing, too.
Anyway, once I had the casing on, I made a long strip of trim out of what was left of my green spandex. I TRIED to sew it on using my machine… my machine was making it through the leather/vinyl/spandex combo ok, but I think the added height of the leather was squishing the spandex too much and causing it to wiggle around and it just didn’t look good. So I stopped trying to sew it with the machine and just whip-stitched it in place by hand. I wanted to put snaps in the back, but that “I’m almost done!” laziness bit me and I just stuck some sticky-back velcro on for the closure.
With the big light on, and the big light off:

All I have left at this point is affixing the “D” buckle Chase is making for me, and going over the embroidery with some glue. Yay! Done early!
