Holiday weekend

I REALLY buckled down and dug into the Donna dress over the weekend.

Thursday night I got the last of the beading and embroidery on the “middle” part finished (the lower skirt half above the big triangles). Friday I tackled the big triangles. I broke out the “light table” again (using a light underneath our glass coffee table) and with some tracing paper made an exact pattern of the triangles. Then I used that to make the applique pieces out of leftover gold taffeta from Anne and some leftover black organza. Got each of those pieces made, pressed, attached to the dress and machine stitched the designs by Friday night.

Saturday was a lot of beading…

Only stopped for 4th of July cookout over at my parents!

Sunday was NON-STOP beading and embroidery. Literally I never even got out of my pajamas yesterday. I stopped to eat and take a nap.
I thought the embroidered purple triangles would take about a week because they were so slow everywhere else — but I got better at them and powered through them all yesterday!!!!!!!

Front panel for my Donna Noble Unicorn & the Wasp dress. Finishing off some beading at the bottom, and need to still do the band at the top and it'll be done.

All that’s left on this piece:
Finish beading the edges around the triangles
Bead the interior of the diamond in the center triangle
Finish beading the top strip

Then I need to find the back panel (I cut it at the same time as the front but I don’t know where it got off to. The one I used last time was for last year’s version and didn’t match up)
Cut lining
Get back panel attached, put together lining, attach it
Make shoulder straps
Make belt
Make underskirt
Make cape piece
Repaint shoes
Bead cape piece
Make necklace

I seriously think if I buckle down I could have everything done by the end of this coming weekend.

Then I have two bodysuit costumes to make – Captain Marvel and the other one I haven’t mentioned yet – those should just take a couple of days each. Still need to buy shoes for them both, and some leather for the “secret” one — but that’s it.

I felt like my collection was lacking for this year, and seeing as how I’m so ahead of the game, I may try to shoehorn in the Georgian dress I wanted to make. Going to look at budget this weekend and see… (I went ahead and ordered fabric swatches….)
