This weekend was crazy… !
Saturday was not only Memphis Comic Expo – but moving day for my grandma. The plan was for myself, Chase and Kevin to head up to the convention and the movers/the rest of the family would do the moving. But we ended up heading over that way to help after a couple of hours. And then Sunday was allll day going through her house, packing stuff up, marking stuff as needing to go to her new place/getting stuff ready for an estate sale/selling the house.
So I didn’t get as much con as I wanted – but we very much enjoyed what we did get to do.
Queen Aelsa was surprisingly comfortable. It was a LITTLE warm between the mass of wig and the velvet base layer of the dress – but since I had to pick the whole thing up to walk (didn’t want to get stepped on), it stayed pretty cool. The only issue I had was that the elf ears underneath the wig was like wearing a vise around my head – I’ll have to add a layer of foam to the back side of them for some cushioning for next time.
We checked out the art, Kevin shopped (he got a Legend of Zelda shirt though he realllllly wanted a keyblade. We told him keyblade would need to be a christmas present.) Chase took a handful of pics which are in my flickr set here.
We took a handful of pics of my costume before we heading out – the Agricenter interior is not the most elvish looking backdrop:
Kevin and I taught some geography
Then we realized we could stop in this little shady garden area on the way to the car so we got a few more “background appropriate” pics:
I’m really hoping to be able to go do a photoshoot with it sometime soon – I’d like to use this location again. And of course I will have it at Dragoncon.
