Well, I have pictures, but I didn’t get a thing done last night, except for trying it on, realizing my back panel didn’t fit right and needs to be remade, getting my undersleeves pinned into place, and discovering I hate my corset. Onto pics!
So yeah, the dress fits me MUCH differently than the dressform, so the back panel I made doesn’t fit right once it’s on me. So Chase drew a guide for me while I had it on last night, so tonight I’ll make a new one. I got my undersleeves pinned on. The weight of them are pulling on the shoulders a bit, and I came up with ways to stop that, but then… last night for some reason my corset was REALLY uncomfortable and I couldn’t lace it up as tight as I normally do. It was really digging into my sides.
So I’m thinking about remaking it. We’ve dropped 2 costumes (the surprises, saving for next year, getting too late to tackle now), so I have time to do it, now. I’d just take my old one apart and scavenge the boning and busk from it. The old one just wasn’t very good, plus it’s missing the shoulder straps – and if had the straps, I could attach the undersleeves to THAT with snaps or something, instead of weighing the dress sleeves down.
Anyway, I picked up these doo-dads at the craft store for the bodice trim:
They need some jewels and pearls and whatnot and then I’ll get them attached. So besides that I just need to finish the interior sleeves, make the new back panel and attach, and finish the girdle belt.
So the reason I didn’t get anything done besides trying it on last night was because of…
Maybe DragonCon rush isn’t the best time to get a cat. But, my mom found her a couple of weeks ago. Tried to find out if she had an owner/was lost, and tried to find someone to take her, because she was slightly allergic. So after two weeks and no one able to take it, we decided to try her for a week.
We’ve wanted a cat since we moved into our house, but it never seemed the right time, and here this one just needed a home, so we’re trying it. Mostly we just need to see how she does with Indy, or rather, how Indy does with her. Indy grew up with cats (Calvin and Hobbes) so it’s not that she’d be rough with the kitty – she’s so old she doesn’t really even notice. But I don’t want her to feel “replaced” or ignored because of the kitty.
We’ve named her Luna Lovegood, and taking her up to Petsmart this weekend for a check-up.
