Meg Wig

I dug in last night and finished it. Well, almost, I’m going to recurl a couple of pieces tonight, but I’m calling it quits otherwise.

Working on the wig - created a bump out of foam for the ponytail, but got it a little low. Had to redo it after this.My Megara costume from May 2014 - in-progress.kelldar.com/portfolio/megaraKelldar.com | My Facebook Page | Tumblr | Instagram

Also, check out the snazzy new wig-working space I have, LOL. I was tired of having to work in the kitchen – our kitchen counters were the only place in the house that my wig stand clamp would fit on. So Chase added a small block of wood to the end of my other table in my office, so now I can work on wigs in there instead of the kitchen. Yay!

Anyway. The base is not as tight as I would like, but it’ll work for now. I ended up braiding the hair of the base wig and wrapping them around the base of the ponytail instead of just pulling all of the hair into a ponytail. I built up the ponytail with a piece of foam, and then sewed my clip-on ponytail onto it. The bangs, I added some more wefts for thickness, curled it, added the curls on the side.

It’s not as heavy as I was expecting. When I tried it on, I was expecting Ame-Comi Wonder Woman weight, but it’s not bad. I guess since it’s just one small piece of foam and a clip-on ponytail, instead of a full-on extra wig. I only needed 3-4 bobbie pins to keep it on, though I’ll probably use more at the convention.

I did have one issue with the wig – it’s too big. Even with the straps closed and tightened up in the back, the bottom of the wig gapes. I’m going to have to pin all along the edge just to keep it up against my head. I know I have a tiny head, but I’ve never had that issue before. Weird.
