First off, many thanks to my husband who has been dealing with Joann Fabrics for me trying to hunt down more of this fabric.
Secondly, a lot of this post is just me venting frustration.
First off, why would you ever manufacture a fabric only 45″ wide. This needs to stop. The shortest should be 60″.
So, to recap, I found a decently good fabric for my Anne costume at Joann in the city by my grandmother. It was not a full bolt (full bolt was only 8 yards at only 45″ – why??), but 6 yards. I went ahead bought the six, planning on hopping online and buying the rest there, with a free shipping coupon and my gift card. With that size, I figured I needed around 13-14 yards and that was pushing it, considering the full skirt, train and giant sleeves I’d need to make.
I located the fabric on Joann’s website, bookmarked it, and came back a couple of days later to order it. Guess what? Not available online. (why is it still on your website at all and coming up in searches arrrgh). Panicking I did the store search – 4 yards at our one location here. My husband graciously went over and picked them up for me (he works pretty close to there) – so now I have 10.
Did the store locator again and there’s another 4 yds in Murfreesboro. Great, I know I can do a store transfer because I think it was Derek or Ash one who had to get some of our Time Lord velvet transferred in. So helpful guy at Joann’s tells Chase sure we can do that, and calls them up – tells Chase they’ll call back with the info and he’ll call Chase back.
Well helpful guy never calls back, so Chase calls up there last night and the guy says Murfreesboro never called back, so he’ll “look in the system to see what else is available.”
So this morning Chase just calls Murfreesboro himself. They confirm they have the fabric and can transfer it, but our store has to give them the transfer number. They tell Chase to call our store, ask for a manager, and they can get it set up.
So, finally, it’s all done. Chase does that, transfer is in, my last 4 yards are coming to me. Geez. All this just because your fabric is only 45″ (yes, I’m blaming that out of stubbornness).
