Disney Day 1 and 2!
Under the cut ->
Our first day started out with an early morning flight out of Nashville (thanks to Derek for letting us stay overnight Friday!). We got picked up at the airport by Happy Limo and our driver’s name was MAURICE. So we kept going, “Crazy old Maurice eh?!?!”
We stayed at Bay Lake Tower this trip! We got checked in but our room wasn’t ready yet. We went over to the Contemporary and ate lunch at Contempo Cafe… then my parents fell asleep in the lobby chairs.
We got the text that our room was ready and went and checked it out.
Our room was great. We had a 1 bedroom suite, so we had two bathrooms, a kitchen, a washer and dryer – it was great. Here’s a few pics I took.
Chase & I slept on the fold-out couch and chair. I actually found them to be quite comfortable and firm.

The best part though, was even though we didn’t pay for a park or lake view, we had a bit of both.
We had a pretty solid view of Space Mountain, a tiny bit of the castle (could easily see the fireworks), and the edge of the lake. Really nice.
The BEST part was just being able to walk over the Magic Kingdom. We had expected to have to do that a lot – since we were told the monorails were going to be down between 11:30AM-7PM Monday-Friday. Sucked for us since we’d paid to be at a monorail resort, but we figured we’d just walk over to Magic Kingdom and hop the monorail there. Then it ended up they ran the entire time, so that was lucky. Anyway.
Once we had gotten the room squared away we headed over to Epcot for our Test Track fastpass and dinner at Biergarten.
My poor dad did not feel good though. He sat out Test Track and toughed his way through dinner. He hadn’t been feeling well since that morning. We ended up catching a taxi from Epcot back to the hotel instead of standing in the crowd of a line for the monorail back, after dinner.
DAY 2…
Chase and I got up extra early… and I do mean extra early. My alarm went off, and I got up and tried to convince Chase to get up and go get in the shower so we could get on over to Animal Kingdom and get it over with. It was still dark out, and he said, “I don’t think it’s what time you think it is. It’s too dark out.” After going back and forth for a while, he got up and looked at the clock, and it was only 4:30. It was my alarm for us to get up to make our flight the day before. (And, with Daylight Savings, it actually felt like 3:30 to us!)
So back to sleep for a while and THEN we got up bright and early for Animal Kingdom. We left my parents sleeping in.
I’ll be honest, I don’t really care for Animal Kingdom. It’s ok but I’d rather spend my time at the other parks. We ate breakfast at one of the counter service restaurants, then went over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and I got to pet a goat and a pig, we came back, saw some lemurs and a kangaroo, got our pics with Dug and Russell, and headed back to the hotel by 10.
We got back and Dad still wasn’t feeling good. We told him to sleep in the rest of the afternoon, it was the perfect day for it since we didn’t have anything planned until dinner.
So mom, Chase and I walked over to Magic Kingdom for lunch.
It was Dapper Day!!! I’ve always wanted to go so I was super excited to find a couple of weeks ago that it coincided with our trip. It was neat to see so many people dressed up in the parks. Like I said in an earlier post, I brought my Haunted Mansion skirt back. I didn’t go all out, just wore it with a new tanktop I’d gotten and my flats (and my sunhat. I got sunburnt the first day when I didn’t put sunscreen on my face because I didn’t think we’d be the sun long enough to matter).
I got some really nice comments on it, so that was neat!
We ate at Casey’s Corner and rode Haunted Mansion and Peoplemover. Then we went ahead and went back to the hotel for a nap. We decided not to fight the crowds to see the first performance of the Festival of Fantasy parade, since we had a FP+ for it the next day.
We brought dad a little lunch and we all napped for a while, before getting up to head to Epcot for dinner. Thankfully dad felt well enough to come – I wouldn’t want him to have missed it! Although we had to rush through Epcot pretty quickly as we were running late but we got there right on time!
After dinner, my parents went back to the hotel while Chase and I went back to the Magic Kingdom. We watched the fireworks, saw Mickey’s Philharmagic, and used my FP+ for meeting Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Then we called it a night.
Stay tuned for Day 3 and 4….
