MidSouthCon!

Friday I ended up staying home from work with an awful migraine that was making me sick to my stomach – I don’t think the remnants of my head cold helped, either. Friday night I felt awful.

So I was worried about Saturday! I had a friend’s baby shower to go to in the morning, and Chase’s birthday dinner that night, with MidSouthCon in between, so it was going to be a busy day. Thankfully I woke up feeling ok.

I didn’t even know what I was wearing til late Friday night. I decided to stick Kev in his Ceremonial Luke (since I knew I had all the pieces for it there at the house), and I’d wear my Ceremonial Leia, since we’d never had the chance to wear them together. While pulling everything out Friday night I discovered half of my Leia hair was missing. I tore the house apart and couldn’t find it anywhere. Still have no clue where it is, I hope it didn’t get tossed by mistake 🙁

So that meant I had to run by the wig/hair store on my way home from the shower and buy a new braid – I had enough to do the crown but my long braid piece for Ceremonial/Slave Leia was among the missing.

Anyway, all that to say – we didn’t get up to the con til about 1:30. But we had a great time.

I have GOT TO GET RID OF THOSE CEREMONIAL LEIA SHOES. Everytime I wear them I start getting blisters just within a few minutes! (the problem is, not only are they a size too big, but they’re also “wide.”) I had to take them off and walk barefoot to the car, they just hurt too much. You can see them dumped on floor in this pic:

Anyway; I sound like I’m complaining a lot in this thread, don’t I? I don’t mean to be! The best part of the con was that Kevin got a lot of nice compliments on his costume and a few pics taken of him, too. That was fantastic since when he wore it at C2E2, nobody stopped him for a picture or said anything to him, and I think it kinda hurt his feelings. So he was on cloud 9.

We shopped a bit, took a handful of pictures, hung out at the bar for a while, before we had to leave for Chase’s dinner. Kev and I got some pics together before we left:

I did my Ceremonial Leia hair a little different. Usually I just twist my own hair around and pin it place to make the base to wrap the braids around – this time I did a sock bun and it made a fantastic, much bigger and more solid base and made it MUCH easier to the rest of the hair. Yay!

Then Chase dared me to keep my Leia hair on for dinner, so:

Here’s the rest of the photos we took, not a ton but there’s a few. I wish we could have gone back up on Sunday but we had other family stuff to do.

And that might be it for us, con-wise, until Dragoncon. Crazy right? We were thinking about a con in May but it depends on Chase’s movie’s shooting schedule.
