Hi guys. Haven’t done much lately because of all the painting and crazy work stuff. BUT I do have a few things to share now!
First off, had a good mail day the other day:
Chase has been playing a lot of PS3 lately and it’s been making me miss some of my PS2 games. Besides playing Battlefront 1 and 2, I also dug out my old LOTR games – played Two Towers a bit, but when I found my ROTK case, it was empty. Who knows where that disc is! So I hopped on Amazon and bought a used copy and we’ve been playing it a bit together.
The other thing is my current sewing project. Pics soon!
So we FINALLY finished painting the living room, hallway, and fireplace. We thought it would only take a solid Saturday and Sunday, but it ended up taking Sat, Sun, and then Mon-Wed nights.
But we’re really happy with it. For reference, here’s the colour it was:
We didn’t mind the colour when we moved in, it was a decent neutral. Compared to some of the other objectionable looks in the house when we moved in, the living room and hallway colour were very low on the list.
(If you really want the full idea, make sure you click on every word of that link above.)
But over time it started to look vaguely dirty and grimy. So we picked a paint colour at the end of 2011 and started painting the hallway. Then I said we needed to stop before we hit the living room because I wanted to decorate for Christmas – so we left it as it was an intended to pick it up after Christmas. Well it ended up being after the NEXT Christmas before we finally got to it. So here it is. The pics are crappy because they’re from my phone, I’ll take some better ones with a real camera soon.
The mantel is Valspar 4007-4B “Smokey Pitch”
The walls are Valspar 4008-38 “Lighthouse Shadows.”
It looks much cleaner and brighter than it did originally. We also painted the trim white, all the trim in the house is this awful almond colour that makes everything look really gross and dirty. In that last pic, compare the colour of the backdoor to the trim – that’s the colour all of the trim was originally. Chase is painting the doors this summer. (So now, the trim in the bedroom, hallway and living room are done – we just need to do the kitchen, bathrooms, and the 3 other rooms… oof.)
One more pic.
So in other news, my work schedule has changed for the first time in 10 years. I’ll now be working a bit longer everyday Mon-Thurs, but I now have every Friday off. I intend to put those Fridays to good use. I’m super excited!
