Sorry I’ve been MIA… real life happened but I doubt the story is anyone’s interest so I won’t bore you with it.
My next project for my office is this piece of furniture:
It was not quite as dirty as the other piece, and still in very good shape, just one piece of a drawer had come off.
Once I got it to my house and looked it over, I noticed a sticker on the inside reading “Storkline.” (I’ll post a pic of it in my next entry) I tried to find more info on the company, but didn’t find much (so I’m sorry to anyone coming here from google looking for Storkline info!)
All I really found was that they produced baby furniture from about the 30s through the 60s, which would fit nicely with my piece – it was my dad’s when he was a baby (and then mine when I was a baby). It’s been sitting in my parents’ garage for the past 15 years, before that in an attic for probably at least another 10. I suspected that maybe it had been painted yellow after it was bought, since a lot of existing Storkline pieces I found online were natural wood, with nursery rhyme scenes painted on the doors… but after looking it over I’m pretty sure it was yellow to start with.
We got it cleaned up this past weekend (thankfully no old Wasps’ nests like the other piece!) and ready to be painted. I picked out a colour a while back but forgot the name, gotta find it again. I am going to keep the interior yellow, though.
Also, in one of the drawers, I found a a little blue hanger, with Bambi on it, just like the one in the bottom left of this photo. I remembered having several of those when I was little! I’m going to keep it in there once it’s finished š
