Hopefully we’ll be getting the disc of all the full-size copies of the photos pretty soon — but I realised I’m starting to forget some of the moment-by-moment parts of the day, so I thought I’d go ahead and post about the wedding day with some of my favourite pics out of the proof gallery our photographer sent us. These aren’t the greatest quality since they’re just screen grabs out of the flash gallery, but still!
The night before the wedding I didn’t sleep very good. All of us girls spent the night at my aunt’s house – my cousin Cath and I slept in the upstairs den and I woke up with my stomach hurting around 3:30ish and couldn’t get back to sleep. I went downstairs and ate some pudding and finally got back to sleep around 6.
Got up a while later and went downstairs… hung out in my aunt’s room and Ash and Melissa left to go get their hair done. We had breakfast and then Kristie and I went and ran some errands – I needed to run home for a few things, etc.
We got back to my aunt’s house as my cousins Cath and Rach were leaving for their hair appts, and my mom got there, with her hair done – she looked so cute! Kristie & mom did my makeup, and then mom left to go do some things, and Kristie, my aunt and I went for our hair appts.
I sat around and read while Frankie did my aunt’s hair and Kristie’s hair, and then he did mine and it went much faster than I expected… and I LOVE how it turned out. I love how everyone’s hair turned out! His theme was “old hollywood” and everyone looked fantastic.
So once that was done we headed over to the gardens. All day when the girls were calling back and forth I was “Miss Piggy” (ie, “Miss Piggy is on the move!”) – because we’d watched Muppets Take Manhattan the night before, and I told everyone I wanted our wedding to be like Kermit and Miss Piggy’s, LOL.
So we got there and got to the bridal room and everyone was already dressed! Man those girls are on it! Plus they had a tray of chic-fil-a nuggets and a fruit platter and a cooler full of drinks for us all. I got my dress on and Frankie came in to do hair touch-ups.
Well, I started getting dressed… only to discover that within the week and a half of my last fitting of my dress, I’d lost more weight (not on purpose) and it was a little loose. So I was all worried over that. At this point is where our photographer came in and started taking pics, so…
(EDIT: There USED to be a bunch of photos in this post, but they were the smaller preview versions. I made a second post when I got the full size versions you can see elsewhere! I removed all the dead image links from this post after the preview photos were removed. I’ll post one so this isn’t just a wall of text.)
And then we had an absolutely beautiful ride down town, we had the windows open and the weather was perfect. I finally got to find out Chase’s big secret (where we were staying that night!) – the Madison hotel downtown, which was SO gorgeous! It was so amazing riding in that awesome car, and pulling up to the hotel!
We got our room and I knew in my bag I’d find cards from the girls, because we did the same thing for Melissa (hiding cards in her honeymoon luggage) – so I sat down and read those, and out of everything the whole night, those were the only things to make me cry!! LOL in a good way!
But yes… the whole day was fabulous… snafus were nothing once you get on the other side of it and realise how wonderful it all was together. We had perfect weather, I was surrounded by all my family and friends and we got to eat good food and dance and have fun, and of course finally marry the person I knew I was going to marry the first time I saw him 🙂
So anyway; more later, hopefully, better quality and some other shots. I can’t wait to get ahold of that disc, I’ve got so many empty frames I’ve been saving!! LOL
As far as I know, there isn’t a way to bump up the skin. I think you’d be better off wearing something beneath the first costume, to avoid the lines. Like a pantyhose camisette, for instance. Or a foam guard of some kind.
Lotion might help. Maybe something to line the corset?
Well, there are two points of intervention: 1) You do something to even out the pressure from the corset; 2) Something to recover more quickly.
For (1), I wouldn’t think any fabric would help. You’d probably need something metal. Anything you did would probably make wearing the corset even more uncomfortable. Basically, you’d have a huge red mark instead of a bunch of red lines. That may go away even more slowly than the lines, but may be less noticeable overall.
For (2), I asked a physician and he couldn’t really come up with a solution to making it go away significantly faster, although movement will help. Basically, you’ve compressed the tissue and when you take away the pressure, you’ve got blood rushing to the area to refill the tissue. He vetoed my idea of heat causing more blood flow and instead suggested that ice might decrease the redness by causing vasoconstriction, although it would cause an overall increase in the time to full recovery. A steroid or antihistamine cream might also cause vasocontriction and reduce the redness.
The only thing I know of is to make sure you’re well hydrated, which is a must at any convention anyhow. Your skin will bounce back quicker.
Already been mentioned, but lots of well lotioned skin before you wear the corset, and keep hydrated. If your skin is dry at all, it will make the lines more intense and last longer.
We used ice for a dance show once when we had quick changes from corsets to
bits of stringbikinis. Being a bit more careful when putting your corset on and really pulling the fabric taught on the bit that counts will help too.cold shower…also, perhaps dowsing a cloth with visine, as that helps, i use it to reduce redness in this exact situation on a smaller scale, like when a collar has pressed in around my neck or something, it works fairly well…
