On the subject of Reappearing objects:
Twice we’ve had something disappear, only to reappear in an unlikely place.
When my parents were younger, they moved into an apartment complex. The day they were moving in, they dropped their Aggravation board game (a game that involves several marbles) and the marbles spilled out into the flowerbed in front of their apartment. They never found all the marbles, and weren’t very happy as you can imagine. Well, my mum worked a lot in that little flowerbed, and had a garden in the area where the game dropped. She worked out there quite a bit but never found any of the missing marbles, despite planting and digging in the area a lot.
Several years later they were moving out of the apartment into our first house. As they were packing up and taking things out to the car, mum looked down, and there in the garden, were several marbles. It was all the missing marbles from the game.
Why should they turn up on that day of all days, the day my parents were leaving? Especially after mum never could find them, even after working in the area so much? Strange.
The second one happened to me. My favourite musical is Jesus Christ Superstar, and I have an old copy of the CD soundtrack. It gets played quite a lot and as a result is fairly scratched up and old looking. Well, a couple of years ago I lost many of my favourite CDs when my CD book fell off the back of the car. The second disc of Jesus Christ Superstar was among them (the first disc was in my other, smaller case at the time, thus spared). I was very upset, and as time went by I really missed my second Jesus Christ Superstar disc, more than any of the others. I thought I would have to buy it again, but never did.
Some months later I was at my aunt’s house and discovered Photoshop had been uninstalled – I asked dad to bring Photoshop from his office so I could reinstall it. Mind you this is not something he brings home from the office – this was a special occasion. On top of that it was an older edition of Photoshop, one that he hadn’t used in a long time. Last time I had had it was in April earlier that year, long before I had lost my CDs.
He brought it to me and I opened it, and reach in to pull out the first disc – and two discs come out. One is the Photoshop CD, the other is my missing Jesus Christ Superstar.
I have no idea how it could have gotten in there. As I said this disc hadn’t been messed with since about April – I had lost my discs in September. I know I had listened to it many times that summer – and the disc that came out of Photoshop was certainly mine – it had all the same spots and scratches on it.
Even if that disc HADN’T been in the CD case I lost (which I know it was), how did it get in a Photoshop case that hadn’t seen the light of day in months…?
Anyway…
ZOMG DRAGONCON!!!!!!!!!!!!
