Jupiter isn’t going to be ready for A-Kon. Why? Because it’s about two weeks til A-Kon and I haven’t bought a single thing for it. Which wouldn’t be a giant problem except I got so much left to do on Yuuko, there’s no time to worry with Jupiter. š Oh well – I’ll do it for MTAC next year!
Speaking of Yuuko – I finally got the extensions so I started on the wig today. I got the front cut and I’m going to start on the “bun” on the top next. It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve done a wig… and really, it has – I haven’t done any major wig stuff since A-Kon LAST year! (for Hild!)
I’ve got the basic top part of the dress finished… next I’m tackling the basic skirt, and then the sleeves, and then the white parts.
I’m already tired of this costume. I kinda wish I hadn’t committed to it now, but too late to turn back.
Right now, the line up for A-Kon is:
Belldandy (regular blue), Yuuko, Integra, Dark Phoenix, and then either Hild (if I have room for the wig) or Mara Jade (if I can fix the leg). And… that’s it. I know that’s so few for me!! Ha… but Belldandy I’ll probably wear ALL day friday, and then maybe Dark Phoenix late that night, then Integra sat morning, Yuuko like noon-post masq or so (not planning on doing the masquerade) and then either Hild or Mara Jade late saturday night.
Comic Con:
Starfire – I can’t decide on the base bodysuit colour I want. The place I was gonna order from only has two options… a cream coloured one that is less shiney but I’d have paint more flesh tones on… or a flesh coloured on that is shinier. I wanted to avoid the shine, but I think it would be easier to go ahead with the flesh coloured one. I still have to buy my material and wig…
Arwen Blood Red – I found a trim I like! Yay! And I got a 25% off coupon on my next purchase at the place I’m buying my velvet from, so double yay!
Dragoncon:
Project: Girlie skit (as I’ve taken to calling it) is looking good. Everyone is on board and I’ve scouted some fabric I like for most of the costumes.
Slave Leia: I bought the kit. It’ll happen for sure.
Rebel/Endor Leia: This *might* happen… it’s something I’ve been wanting to do. If I scrape together in enough time I’ll wear it for Dragoncon. (it’s the outfit she wears after the Jabba’s Palace part in ROTJ, but before they go to Endor, during the briefing by Mon Mothma – and also under her poncho on Endor.)
Original Costume: Still planning on doing it.
Polychrome: Only if I have time/funds.
And now for something completely different… there’s a certain Star Wars costume I’ve been itching to do for a while now, and it looks like I might finally get to do it. I have no ETA on when it’ll be finished (I’m not trying to get it done for a specific con)… I’m just going to work on it at my leisure until it’s done, I guess š If it’s done enough in time for Dragoncon I’ll wear it though, but I really doubt it will be. Probably will be for Halloween, though!
I’m SO excited about it, to the point I actually just want to drop everything else and get to it… but that would be silly.
Anyway – here are my pics from the ROTS stuff last week! Including the CompUSA promo, the Fox13 appearance, ROTS midnight show, Buzz promo, and the Wal-mart troop.
I already posted CompUSA pics but here’s a few of my favs from all of it…
I like this shot!

The SMT on Fox13’s Good Morning Memphis:
A great turnout for such an early morning event, and on a weekday!
Me and Melissa at the midnight show:
Us playing Trivial Pursuit in line:
Padme at work:
One evil empire invades another…
The midnight show was great. I got there around 4:30 and got in line. We were on TV a lot (I know for sure I was on channel 3, 5, 13 and 24 on the 5pm local news – I still have people coming up to me saying they saw me on the news!!111omg – and then I was also for sure on channel 13 and 24 on the 10pm news).
Originally I had our stuff set up inside, but they made us move outside, which ended up being nicer anyway. We had our Vader camping chairs, so we looked super geeky! š Cat got there right before they made us move so she helped me move our chairs. Melissa got there right after – she wore my Padme Lake dress, yay! She looked great in it, and it was so awesome seeing somebody else wear it, it made me appreciate it a little more.
So then we played Trivial Pursuit, and one of the cameramen (for Fox13) came over and recorded us for a long time. After he was done we knew we couldn’t wait to see this finished product! I got mom to record it, and it was really hilarious… they showed us sitting around the gameboard, rolling the dice, moving the pieces… they got Cath asking a question (she was so embarrassed about doing it, you can tell in the finished thing she was still laughing) and Melissa making the buttons we were wearing. Then they asked me some questions, and OMG I sounded so country, it was so embarrassing š
Then we put all that stuff in my car and went to McAllister’s and got dessert. They let us in around 11 and we got our favourite seats!
Anyway. I’m not doing a write up on the movie yet, until I can see it again.
Back to work…
