when we surprised my grandpa

Urgh, I ended up being gone all day yesterday. We got home around 10:30 last night. I left work at noon and went over and met up with my aunt and Kristie, then we went and got lunch and headed to my grandparent’s house in Jackson. It was my grandfather’s birthday, you see. He was still at work, but my gramma was there, and so were my cousins Rachel and David.

We all crammed into my aunt’s car and found a Party store. David managed to knock over almost everything in the store and break one of those stupid cans where the spring-worm-thing flies out at you when you open it. I also knocked over some stuff, but it wasn’t my fault. We got 20 balloons, bunch of those straw beach hats, a bunch of leis and a hat with a palm tree on it for the birthday boy.

He didn’t know where we there, so we all hid in the dining room when he came home. He came in and we yelled Happy Birthday and took pictures and held up the banner we made for him and all that. Then he opened his presents and we went and ate at Lonestar. Without being asked (mema just mentioned to them that it was daddy bob and david’s birthday in passing – david’s bday is in 4 days), the waiters brought out sundaes for both of them and sang. Daddy Bob was mortified, LOL He heard them clapping farther back as they headed to our table, and he said, “Oh hell, I hope that’s not for us.” and we all cracked up 😀

We went back home to have cake, but as soon as we got in he got a call from work. He had to go in for some urgent reason, and he asked if we could wait til he got back. We did, but it was 8:30 by then, so we ate and ran. Took us an hour to get home of course, and then I had to drive all the home from my aunt’s house from my own. I just fell right in bed and went to sleep! Ah, I’m getting old.

I should have left for work 3 minutes ago… and I still haven’t put a shirt on… blegh
