Yaaaaaaay
I finally finished the beading on the top (except for the upper band)! I got to move on to the lower half last night. I decided to pin it onto my dressform this morning for a better picture. My dressform is currently at the lowest measurements for getting things off and on easier, so she’s a little (ok a lot)…

So close yet so far
I allllllmost got the top finished last night. I probably won’t be able to work on it much tonight (taking Kev out for his bday!) but hopefully can have it finished it up tomorrow (except for the upper band, of course – haven’t really touched that) Luna discovered I have fun things in my work box. I throw empty spools…

Donna updates
I’m alllllllllllmost done with the top section. I think if I really push tonight I could have it pretty much done. I need to finish doing the circles on the right (hate doing those), bead them, finish that one middle piece on the right, do the beading along the top edge and the rest of the large beads.

Recent updates
Monday I focused on getting the bottom half of the dress patterned out. Chase printed it for me Tuesday — but we had to go help with moving some stuff at my grandma’s that night, so by the time we got home i was too tired to do anything with it. So yesterday I got my quasi-light table set up…

Rawr
Saw Jurassic World twice this weekend and now I am a velociraptor. Chase was out of town Friday and Saturday and I tried to get a lot done but I didn’t really. I started on the circles underneath the points. Not crazy about how the beaded ones looked so I stopped beading them and just focused on getting the basic…

Crap
Crap, I had a long-ass post written out about crazy stuff last night and Donna progress and wordpress just had an error when I went to post and didn’t even save the draft. WTF :\ So, short version: 1. Bad migraine day yesterday 2. Cath came over and we made a bunch of capes for her summer camp 3. Chase…

Stuff
Didn’t get to do a lot on the Donna stuff over the weekend, so finally got to jump in again last night. I started doing some of the light purple points. Got all but one done on one side – didn’t feel like rethreading because I wanted to go to bed LOL The interior of my new car gets HOT!…

Just keep beading
More beading progress from last night: I got the base of the “spikes” on either side done, the rest of them I’ll do by hand. More general beading, too. Monkeyed around with the top line parts a little, too. FABRIC! My spandex order came! My Captain Marvel fabric! I’m actually doing it!!!!! I was going to do it 2 years…

More Donna progress
Discovered rifftrax was on hulu last night so I got a good bit done. Unfortunately, those straight line stitches at the top I wanted to take out? Half-way through removing the first one I realized it was damaging the fabric. UGH! So I stopped and left what was there and just went over the top of it with my embroidery…

Progress YAY
I never did come back with a picture of the wig because I forgot to take one. So I took one this morning. I need to brush the wig out really well. It has been manhandled a lot recently so I need to get it looking nice again. I’ll probably rebraid the front, too, and I’m going to find some…

Costume Stuff
Breaking today’s post up into 2 posts because my car post got a little long. I got a decent amount of work done this weekend! First off, on Friday, I had the sudden realization that I had my dates for Memphis Comic Expo mixed up. I thought I had 2 weeks to finish my costume. Turns out it’s NEXT weekend.…

A few decisions
So, with all of the craziness of this week (I had to go pick jury duty dates yesterday morning. SO LOVELY after having my grandfather’s funeral the day before. F jury duty.) I ended up making some decisions about my projects for this summer. I’m pretty sure both of the big projects are out the door. The Georgian dress is…

2014 Year in Review – 2015 Plans
It’s that time of year!! Time to look back at what I accomplished and what I… didn’t accomplish. So last year, I said I was going to make… 1. Willow – Buffy the Vampire Slayer Nope. Even though this would have been easy I just never got to it. 2. Johanna’s Interview Dress – Catching Fire I DID THIS ONE!…

UGH
UGH! Flickr changed their layout AGAIN and now I can’t find everything I use. I hate flickr. Anyway. Didn’t get a lot done last night since the girls were over, but I did draw out my guide for my Donna embroidery. (Last weekend I mostly did testing different threads and beads). This is the back side, my guide for doing…

Donna
So I finally started my embroidery last night. I drew up my patterns for the main front piece Wednesday night, and yesterday I transferred that to the back side of my fabric. I did a few test runs to see which thread I liked better (I had a non-metallic gold, and a metallic gold to choose from), and which bead size…

Lots of work
So last night I got all of this done Yes, that’s right, I cut out four squares of black fabric and pinned them to my dressform. Man that was a lot of work. Actually I spent most of the evening researching the costume and gathering up my references into one folder, and then I went and cut out the fabric…

Round-up
A lot of thoughts, discussions, and purchases this weekend. Here’s a breakdown of everything I have going on. 1. Meg – still sewing pleats. Good grief. I took my dress, my pins, needle & thread, scissors and my ironing board and dressform to my grandma’s this weekend. I got out of my car and warned her, “You’re going to think…

Donna – Unicorn and the Wasp Thoughts
Ever so vaguely crazy. I can knock the basic dress out in a day or two. But I want to bead/embroider the whole thing. Will I manage this before Dragoncon while also doing my other projects? Stay tuned to find out.
