I do at least have some new photoshoot stuff to post today, but other than that, not a lot.

Thursday was the funeral.

It was a long day. We had to be there at 11:30 and we weren’t done with everything til about 3. And my stupid ass didn’t eat anything beforehand, no breakfast, no snack, nothing. So after it was over I was starving. We all went to eat at Huey’s.

I finally finished getting Christmas taken down. It’s not put AWAY AWAY, but it’s all in its boxes and upstairs on the landing to get put in the attic. Once I have the energy.

I also finally put this chair on the curb.

We got this for Chase’s office when we first moved into our first house in 2009. A fake leather chair from Target. It started peeling after a few years. And then Luna sped that along by popping her claws on it. I don’t even know why we kept it when we moved in 2018… I think I had some grand designs of re-covering it and living out my reupholstery dreams. When we moved in here, I put it in the dining room because there was nowhere else for it to go. Where it has just continued to deteriorate. Now it’s where it belongs… the trash.

And thinking about reupholstering it is making me wanna go bring it back in but NO… I have another project chair to do that with whenever I get around to it.

Saturday I bought new glasses. We went to a glasses store and I tried them on there, then came home and bought them online cuz they were way cheaper that way LOL. They’re supposed to arrive next week.

Went to dinner with my parents last night and it was so yummy, I have leftovers for lunch today that I’m really looking forward to.

In other news… the one thing that is anchoring me to this plane of existence… we booked a Disney trip.

But not just any Disney trip. DISNEY LAND. Yep I am getting my butt on a plane and going to the west coast. So originally we’d wanted to do NYC again, I wanted to fabric shop. But also wanted to do a WDW trip and doing both was going to be difficult. Then Chase came up with the brilliant idea of doing LA/Disneyland. So we started planning. We are taking Kevin. We are doing 2 Disney days, then we have 2.5 days to shop, sight-see, whatever else we want to do. Yay! Now I have a reason to finish that new disneybound Leia dress I bought the material for a couple of months ago.

Now let’s get onto new photoshoot pics…

First up, Giselle!

As I said in the last post, this costume was a crazy mess. It had stains on the lower part of the skirt, I’m guessing from Dragoncon 08 cuz that’s the last time I wore it out of the house. Frayed open seams. The raw seams on the inside were just huge thready messes that needed to be trimmed. The top was the worst part, because I’d added some weird “darts” to make it fit better and also folded over the top edge and just stitched down, plus some weird facing issues. Like I said last time, the shoulder wrap had hid a lot of that, but it didn’t come down as far on my bigger arms now, so I tried to clean it all up as best I could. It’s not perfect, but it was shootable. I removed one of the ugliest darts and stitched down the facing so it wouldn’t stick up. I ended up having to have Chase cut the shoulder wrap in half, right up the center back, because it wouldn’t come down far enough on my arms… so it’s just pinned in the back.

But I am SO GLAD to finally have white backdrop photos of this. I thought it would never happen without a lot of reconstruction work.

And then we have Asuka…

Like I said last time, I just barely got my hips into this suit again. But we managed. The black stripes on the legs were coming off (they were held on with double stick tape — so I’m surprised they were still holding on as much as they WERE!), there was silver paint transferred onto one of the red pleather boob cups, the backpack didn’t fit right anymore, and the barrettes were broken. I had to just pin the hell out of them to get them to stay on my head. Also the fabric marker I used for the lines has bled and caused some staining.

But this is another one I’m so glad to finally have pics of. I kinda feel like I can just throw it away at this point LOL

I’ve got 2 more sets to upload – the new Padme lake dress pics and the new pics of the pink 18th century Belle dress.

Then I need to move on with my life, get my sewing room cleaned up and reset, get the upstairs landing cleaned up, and get started on new stuff. And plan for Disneyland!!
