a sad sack
Well obviously, if you’re a regular to my site, the biggest news is that I’ve set up a new wordpress theme!
It was a hard fought battle but overall I’m pretty happy with it. Lots of changes to get used to. Originally, I had bought a different theme. $60. And I ended up hating it. I was so frustrated – I spent hours just trying to make it look decent. The biggest issue was that there was a lot of just… dead space. Big swaths of emptiness. And no amount of breaking into the code or additional CSS seemed to be able to fix it. AND despite the fact it was touted as being “super customizable” – there were only 4 areas I could change colors within the customize screen?? I was having to plug in additional CSS just to change like basic color areas. I finally just asked for a refund and got it.
So now I’m using Ashe Pro. It’s sooooo much better. I was able to get it looking the way I wanted pretty quickly and then start digging into the finer details like cleaning up the costume pages. I still have a lot to do, but it’s functional. Oh and one bummer was that Ashe didn’t have a portfolio… but that’s ok. I’ll live.
I’ve got to make new banners for the front page – I don’t have any of my hard drives with the bigger versions of pics I want to use handy, so I just haven’t done it yet. And then I need to fix the art pages, and probably go back thru blog posts too. A big issue I’m running into is that this theme doesn’t handle basic HTML within pages/posts like the old one did, so all images I had lined up or sitting next to each other now… aren’t. I’m having to go in a fix everything like that. You’ll probably be seeing it happen for a while as I try to fix 25 years worth of pages and posts.
Anyway, in real life news, it snowed!

Well, it iced/sleeted/snowed. I saw somebody call it a winter weather lasagna LOL. It’s not just nice fluffy snow. But we missed the worst of it. Never lost power, most of the worst of the ice went south.
We got out yesterday and went to Target for some basics. Chase’s car does fine in it and he’s northern so he knows how to drive in this mess. Sucky thing is at Target yesterday we didn’t think about food for the rest of this week… yep, we are out of food. We bought some stuff for the weekend last week, and we had our homechefs, but we’ve eaten it all! He’s off today, so he’s ventured out into it again trying to find an open grocery store. So far all 3 he’s gone to have been closed so now he’s trying Walmart.

Discovered Luna really, really, really likes ham.
It was a lazy weekend otherwise. I worked on a puzzle on my new puzzle board. I assembled the pattern for my next sewing project. Finished putting Christmas away and cleaning my sewing room. Read some more. It was nice, because I’m still super stressed about work. I had to take a tums the other day.

Trying to focus on Disneyland/LA plans, because that’s fun. We’ve got our park days reserved, dining reservations made. Not doing a lot because it really seems like Disneyland quick service is so much better than WDW? Like lots of good stuff to eat without needing to make an ADR. We did book Carnation Cafe because we loved that potato soup last time we went. Still trying to figure out our LA days. And I also need to decide what costume project I’m doing this year so I can fabric shop.
