it’s the 2025 costume wrap-up post

At long last! I’m posting this way later than I normally do! But I was waiting on the last of my white backdrop pics of stuff from this year.

Ok, so let’s start off with reviewing what I said I was going to make in 2025 in December 2024:

1. MoM Scarlet Witch – YES!
Finally buckled down and used that fabric!

2. Belle ballgown version 3 – YES!
Long time coming!

3. Deanna Troi – YES!
And helped mom with her Lwaxana costume too!

4. WWDITS updates – Nope. I’d still like to do this (it was making a proper Laszlo costume for Chase.)

5. Another Taylor? – YES!
I did one of the mashup ideas – my Padme lake dress/lover bodysuit mashup:

6. A disneybound project – YES!
Rizzo the Rat! I already had the fabric and the shirt ordered when I wrote the 2024 wrap-up so that one was pretty definite anyway.

So what else did I do that wasn’t on the list from last year?

-Queen Amidala Disneybound for the Jan 2025 trip!
I was already formulating this project when I wrote the 2024 list but wasn’t sure I’d do it. But once I saw how cold it was gonna be on our trip… I was like yeah I need another outfit that is full coverage LOL

-Padme Picnic Disneybound for the May 2025 trip!
We hadn’t planned on doing 2 trips this year but after Jan was so cold, we booked a bounceback deal for a quick weekend. I’d had this picnic-esque dress in my closet from kohl’s for a couple of years, and it seemed like a low-stress project to work on after my surgery, so surprise, extra disneybound!

-Lorne (Severance)
Of course I didn’t have this on my 2024 list because season 2 hadn’t even come out yet! When I saw this costume in the finale I was like, oh yeah, that’s what my Dragoncon line-up needs.

-Helping Mom with Lwaxana:
It was fun to work on this together with her!

-Helping Chase with Radagast:
This was a scrappy project using a lot of found pieces (curtains, table runner, pajama pants) and manipulating them. It turned out great.

And that’s it!

Jan was taken up by prepping for the Disney trip and the Disney trip. Feb was taken up by prepping for my surgery and having my surgery. March was taken up by recovering from surgery. April was Picnic Padme/Deanna Troi. May was Scarlet Witch and Lorne. June was Belle. July and August was finishing Belle and Padme (Taylor’s Version). September was a month off. October & November was updating the Scarlet Witch skirt and doing the Belle embroidery. December has been photoshoots.

So what’s the 2026 plans?
To be honest, I don’t know. I have a note saved on my phone and I add costume ideas to it anytime something comes up, but nothing is really like grabbing me at the moment. Here’s the things that are in high consideration:

1. A new Leia disneybound
Yeah yeah I know, another? But I saw a pattern that I thought would make a really cute Leia-esque dress and I bought the fabric. So I’ll be starting on that next month probably.

2. Padme’s Picnic dress
I get asked about it all the time. Maybe it’s finally time to do it? I have the sequins bookmarked…

3. The green Frankenstein dress
Yes I’m obsessed with it too. I just don’t have the energy at the moment, we’ll see if that changes in the next few months.

4. Morticia
I been wanting to do a Morticia costume for years. Kinda just want to do my own thing with the concept. We’ll see.

5. Wendy Torrance
Another one I’ve been wanting to do for years. Good late night dcon costume?

6. Barbie Princess Leia
I need a new Leia and her Barbie dress would be a fun one to do.

Con & Travel plans for 2026:
1. Disney trip – in the works, looking at March.
2. Huntsville Expo – wasn’t originally planning to go next year, but friends changed our minds. We also thought it’d be a good one to take Kevin to, since we haven’t taken him to an out of town con since 2017.
3. Dragoncon – of course – but after this year we’ll be taking a break from Dragoncon. Ya girl is tired.
4. Memphis cons? – may check out a couple this year since we’ve had a few years off from most of them. There’s a new Blues City Comic Con that might be fun. Would love to get back to MCX. Those cons will be more of a spur of the moment, “hey that con is this weekend, let’s go” kind of things LOL.
