the life of a showgirl

Everything’s a mess right now. The kitchen’s a mess, my sewing room’s a mess, work’s a mess, my life’s a mess.

I did get Halloween partially out yesterday so that’s a win.
And when I was getting my Wanda stuff out for the event yesterday, I did kinda organize the piles of costume stuff in my sewing room.

I had a doctor appt Wednesday to talk about current meds and it all went pretty well except that my WBC was elevated and they want me to come back in and check it again in a couple of weeks. I don’t wanna.

Friday I left work early so we could go to the Taylor release party.

I wore Lavender Haze because if I was gonna spend 2 weeks stoning the boots I might as well get as much wear out of it as possible right?? Also I couldn’t cross my legs while wearing the boots because the stones pressed up against my legs and left dots LOL

The release party was fun. I do wish we’d gone to a later show that was sold out, but our half-full theater was still fun and everybody was giggling at the radio edit changes. I enjoyed the new album, it’s a fun collection of songs. It’s not my fav – that would be folklore or midnights depending on my mood – but I’ve had one song or another stuck in my head all weekend.

The rest of my bday presents came!

Chase got me the little digital camera blind box!

I got the rainbow one, that was one I said I wanted!

It’s a real functional tiny digital camera, with a flash and everything. I took this pic of Luna:

And then Chase also got me this Showgirl box – the box is awesome, gonna use it to put stuff in in my built-ins upstairs.

Sweatshirt & CD. Dunno what I’m going to do with the CD – we don’t have a CD player anywhere anymore LOL

Friday night went to see dad play:

Weather was great, food was good, the band was great. I got some great footage for their socials.

Dropped Susan off after and Winston met us on the roof looking like batman:

Saturday was supposed to be “staying in” and finishing the kitchen painting, but we went out and got lunch and went to the grocery, and then a few other places too.

The kitchen is mostly finished – it’s just touch-ups now. The problem with going from a light colour to a dark colour is that you now see all the places where their light paint got on the wood and we have to fix it, or just caulking around things that is white and looks crazy. We’re going around with tiny brushes trying to fix it all.

Sunday I finally got Halloween out and got most of it up. Then we went off to check out Daughters of Dorkness, bought a few things, ate some really good empanadas. I wore Wanda:

And I thought I’d be fine in this in the car, because I sat in it multiple times at Dragoncon for a long time just fine, but the car headrest made things uncomfortable, the neckpiece was jammed into my neck the whole time. After we checked out the show, we went and did a quick little photoshoot and then I just took the top off for the ride home (I had the undershirt on!)

Then we pigged out on the empanadas on the way home LOL – seriously, we got one to share as we left the show and it was so good, Chase went back and got 3 more flavours.

We skipped our homechef last night and Chase cooked hot dogs and fries. I did a little more Halloween decorating but mostly just played strands archive and read my book a little (I’m re-reading Fourth Wing. Shoot me, I’m not ready to be out of that world yet after finishing Onyx Storm. Also I read them so fast I felt like I missed things so I’m reading more slowly this time.)

That’s all for this week. I’m going to start making myself do an hour of clean-up in my sewing room a night so I can start getting it all ready for white backdrop shoots, and then also just resetting everything so it’s a pleasant environment to start working in again. I’ve got that disneybound dress to start on, my good Scarlet Witch skirt fabric is in transit to me (yay) and I need to start on my Belle embroidery.
