the deep clean
The deep clean of the sewing room is almost done!

I finally got to vacuum which I’d really been looking forward to it, and I brought the carpet cleaner up to try to get out some stains. Worked great on some and not on others. I’d like to get one of those bigger cleaners and do the whole room one day.

The dressforms (I accidentally typed this as “dressformers” first and omg I should I start calling them that?)

The fabric shelf

Mirror corner
The only area I hadn’t tackled yet was under the couch and I had no clue what was under there. Finally dug into it and discovered… a bunch more fabric. After I’d finally found a home for everything (crying face)
So I found a home for those too and then looked around and decided…. ok, now I gotta do the patterns. I didn’t want to have to do the patterns… but I gotta do the patterns.

Cleaned it all up just to make a giant mess LOL
(Also, I decided to move the Star Wars art piece to Kevin’s room and I put up one of my great-grandma’s mirrors over the couch. I’m going to LOVE that at midnight when I have to go up there to make sure the iron is unplugged and have to walk towards a mirror in the dark, LOL… I’m just waiting on one of the dressforms to move in my reflection behind me one day)
I got all my patterns out and put them into categories so I’ve got a pile of activewear, a pile of scifi-inspired, a pile of Tudor/Elizabethan, a pile of fantasy, a pile of vintage, etc. Last night I took the messiest ones (the ones where I just jammed the pattern pieces back in the bag in a wadded mess instead of folding) and ironed them and refolded them nice and flat. Then I went through my 2 bags of “Homeless” pattern pieces (pattern pieces that got left out/separated from their envelope, I put them in one place so they don’t get lost lost), got them ironed and reunited with their original patterns. Now tonight I’m going to go through each category, make sure they are all as flat as can be and start putting them back in drawers and bins. THEN I will be done with the sewing room and I can finally start my Belle embroidery.

One of our neighbors has this orange cat and we see him hanging out on our front porch often. She seems friendly but the couple of times I’ve held my hand out to her, she won’t come to me. Well she was at the kitchen window the other day and was rubbing up against it, meowing back at me everytime I said hi, so I took the chance and went out there with some treats. She ran away at first, but then came right back. Wasn’t interested in the treats at all – started rubbing up against me nonstop. Pushing her head into my hand for pets. She just wanted attention! Eventually I had to go back in and she sat at the door looking sad đ

I would’ve let her in if Luna wasn’t a punk!

One of our Homechef meals this week was a spooky Shepherd’s Pie. I did my best to recreate it LOL
Saturday Chase wanted to film at a car show downtown, so we went and had breakfast and looked at cars. I mostly sat and played on my phone while he filmed. It was a nice day, the weather was perfect! Afterwards we went to the library sale where I got some cool old hardbacks:

Yes I did that thing where I bought books for looks and not reading. These are for the shelf we’re eventually putting in the living room. I did try to find books that are things we are interested in.

I think this one is my fav.
Had lunch at a taco place, ran by the grocery store, got home and tried to take a quick nap except the neighbor’s shitty dogs were out barking. Before long had to get up and get ready, met my parents for dinner at a new italian place, and then dad and I headed off in the rain to see Yes in concert!

It was a great show!
Sunday it rained all day and got cold. We met Ash and Gabe at the mall to walk, then came home and I worked on my patterns more.
This week is Halloween of course. Going to get Kevin Wednesday, take him to Spooky Science on Thursday (need to get his Luke belt fixed). I’m either going to wear ceremonial, jedi, ewok, or regular Leia. Has to be something I can get into by myself and drive myself, and it may be cold and rainy, so I have to take that into consideration. Regular Leia is the easiest but I’ve worn it there many times before so it’d be nice to do something “new.” If I did ceremonial then Kevin could also do ceremonial… but I’m not sure about getting myself into my strapless bodice I wear with that. Ewok would be super easy, but cold. Jedi would be fun, but I feel like I default to that with Kevin in jedi Luke. I thought about just foregoing matching Kevin at all and wearing Shin, but I definitely can’t get into that without Chase helping.
ooh I could wear Mon Mothma? That’s easy to get into and warm and now is the time where people might finally care about my Mon Mothma after Andor? Hmm. I think I’ll put a poll on my IG.
