what’s going on??
I successfully navigated my birthday weekend without getting a single “happy birthday” on social media LOL. I didn’t set out to do that, but the night before my birthday I was like… y’know what, I’m going to hide my birthday on facebook. It’s not that I don’t appreciate people saying happy birthday there – it’s just a little overwhelming and I feel like I have to at least “like” every single person’s post. So I hid my birthday date and it worked – not a single birthday post! Not seeing a gazillion fb notifications when I woke made me feel like this was a game to be won, so then I didn’t say anything about my bday on any of my other socials, just kept it business as usual.
Again, I deeply appreciate when people tell me happy bday – but at the same time not having to look at my phone to respond to bday messages all day was delightful.
Presents from Chase:

Scarlet Witch pin! Going to have to set this one up on my pinboard right under my one of her hair/tiara LOL

And these!! I forgot about these, I sent them to him ages ago. Torn on if I want to open this or not. I may open it just to make that one swing back down into the right place then close it up and display it on my Padme shelf like this.
My main thing I wanted for my bday was a new dresser. My dresser is still my dresser from the 90s from my parents house LOL and it sucks! The bottom of the drawers are constantly falling out and then I can’t close the drawer all the way. So I wanted a new one – well, I wanted a new-to-me one, I wanted a vintage one. I saw one at an antique store a few months ago and went back Saturday to see if it was still there – it wasn’t, but the seller had a new one I really liked. But no price on it yet – they were still working on it. So going to try to contact them to see if we can snag it.
In other anti-social media news, I decided to delete my older facebook profile. This is the one that’s kinda always been my private, just for IRL people profile. But the thing is, I haven’t used it in years. It just sits there and I’m trying to get away from meta so I’m like why keep this, I’ll delete it. So last week I started going through to save anything I wanted off of it… and I was surprised by how much there was. I didn’t realize how much I used it 10+ years ago. So I’m still working through that – trying to screencap messages and download videos, etc.
And in News of the Weird, an IG friend alerted me that someone on etsy was using a video of my lake dress to sell commissions. Not only did they have my video of my lake dress taken in my work room, they also took stills out of the video and pasted them into their own work room!

WTF LOL. I started to navigate the etsy DMCA portal but decided to just message the seller and tell them to take it down first. And within a couple of hours, my content was gone. Good. Watch out for scammers out there guys!
For my bday I also wanted to Kevin to come over and we play video games and eat junk food and record some silly videos. I picked him up after work Friday, we ran by the grocery to get snacks and then came home. I cooked spaghetti for dinner and then we played Lego Star Wars for a while.

Saturday we went to Sweet Musings for breakfast and Kevin got a “strawberry hot dog” LOL
Then we ran a few errands and met Ash and Gabe at Retrofest:

It was fun, saw some neat stuff. I did expect there to be a little bit more “stuff” – it was 95% clothes, and I had expected to see a little more toys, games, household items, etc. Also it was hot AF in there. But we each got something (minus Kevin, but he got something at our next stop), so all in all in a win.

After that we went to the Antique Store to look for that dresser – and Kevin found a booth with a bunch of (new) pop culture t-shirts, and picked out a Mario one.

I almost got these salt and pepper shakers. And also an entire silver cutlery set still in its wood and velvet box. It was a pretty set and I was like – we could get this and throw out all of our ikea cutlery LOL. But Chase wasn’t interested!
Went to dinner at Coastal Fish and it was really good but we were on the patio and the setting sun was giving us all sunburn LOL

Came back home and Kevin and I recorded some silly Luke and Leia videos. I realized on our way home from dinner that my parents still had his Luke tunic – dad wore it with his Qui-Gon costume at dragoncon. So I stuck Kevin in jedi Luke instead — which worked out fine because last time he wore it, I apparently carefully hung it all back up so for once it didn’t need ironing!
Sunday we painted a little bit more – doing a little bit in the kitchen at a time – took Kevin home, ran to art center for some markers (I want to add some depth to my MoM scarlet witch wig, it looks too flat orange in the photos), target, the grocery, came home and napped. Made pot pies for dinner. Now back to another work week.
In fun news we did get tickets to the Life of a Showgirl release party. We got the first showing just because we thought that would be fun – I’ll just work overtime that week so I can leave early that Friday. I think I’ll wear my lavender haze outfit – just maybe without the coat? It’s still gonna be like 90 degrees here LOL

I think I still have my iDog around here somewhere! Happy Birthday! Would you believe my brain was blown during your 42nd when I realized you were older than me? I was sure you were 5 years younger in your 30s. XD

thanks!! Haha that’s why I told people “hey I’m 42” on my 42nd birthday, I felt like I was hiding being “an old” from everybody and it was time to fess up LOL
