driven mad

I’m slowly being driven mad by our neighbor’s dog. I think I’ve complained about it here before, but it’s the people behind us and one house over. They had been SO MUCH better about not leaving the dog out the last couple of months, and now this past week, he’s been left out for hours every single week day. He’s been out since 8 AM now, just barking like mad, for 40 minutes. It’s a white schnauzer looking dog. It’s LOUD. It’s audible in every single room of our house. I have to turn the volume waaaay up on our tv to try to drown it out, but I can still hear it. Reported it multiple ways. I dunno. I’m losing my mind.

Went to a wedding Saturday night. It was fun. I enjoy weddings the same way people enjoying watching football, even if it’s not your team playing. I love seeing the way other people do weddings and their flowers and dresses and colours and things.

On our way out of the reception we had to walk down a very dark path with no lights and past a historical site. Creeeepy!

We’ve been painting. We currently have 6 swatches of different “natural” whites on our living room wall. There are 2 that were too blue. There was 1 too pink, and 1 too green. We have 2 I like – both are yellow undertones which is what I wanted. The one I like best is slightly too dark but it has the right warm yellow undertone. In 2nd place is another one with yellow undertones, but I feel like it’s too bright. I tried to pick a midway between the 2 yesterday and that was one of the ones that ended up being blue toned.

But we did start painting the kitchen. We knew the colour we wanted and got a gallon.

Before

“After” – in quotes because obviously it’s not finished, this is just what we accomplished yesterday. Will be working on it more this week and next weekend.

It’s a super dark green. Once we’re done painting we’re going to make a decision on cabinet door handles and light switch plates, and also cabinet colours. But we wanted to start somewhere and then go off that.

So glad to finally be getting rid of all of the pastels in this house. I can’t waaaaait to paint over the baby blue wall on the catwalk upstairs.

That’s all I got for now. Birthday is this weekend, yay. Somewhat unpacked from Dragoncon – and by that I mean I’ve gotten most of it upstairs in a pile to be put away once I start cleaning my sewing room. I did have to take Belle out of the garment bag and put her on the dressform, because her garment bag was too heavy and kept pulling over my garment rack.

Speaking of Belle, hoping to start on the embroidery soon. And my machine will be going in a tune-up.
