it’s rat time

Remember how last week I said we were finally done with white backdrop shoots? Well I lied. Chase used a different camera for the last 2 shoots (Jedi Leia and Boushh) and when I got the shots back they just looked too different than every other white backdrop shoot; I looked back lit.

Which was a bummer because i really liked some of the photos especially the ones where Luna crashed the shoot. I may still remove the floor seam and upload those.

We tried everything we could in lightroom to fix them, but nothing worked, so Thursday night, we had to reshoot. UGH! Thankfully I hadn’t put any costumes away… but we HAD torn down the entire backdrop and lighting. So we had to bring all that back to my sewing room and set it up again.

But I took the moment to fix a few things on Boushh – mainly I added a quick waistband and suspenders to the pants so they would stay up without a visible belt. This won’t be permanent but it made the shoot SO much easier.

So anyway I should have those shots up sometime soon. I had to take a break to do other stuff this weekend, but first – snow day!

We got like 6 inches or maybe 7? of just snow. No ice. Chase was off Friday. I wasn’t of course, since I’m WFH, but it was nice having him home that day.

Saturday there was no rhyme or reason to what was open or closed. We had eye doctor appointments that morning – I was REALLY hoping to get some trial contacts for our trip – tried calling Saturday morning and it went to a call service who couldn’t tell us if they were open or not. So we drove down there and surprise surprise, they were closed. But then we headed to midtown and had lunch and then ran a few errands. Again it was hit or miss as to what was open but I picked up a few last minute things for some disney projects that i needed, like silver trim for these:

Yes I FINALLY finished these, I started on them before Christmas!! I picked up some silver trim at Michael’s just to glue onto the back bottom of the ears because I had to take some big stitches to hold these things in place on the headband and it was kinda ugly (just had too much fabric at the bottom edge because of the gathering). So the silver trim is just hiding those stitches.

Sunday I finally started pulling out stuff to pack for the trip. I had to kinda wait to see what the weather was going to be. And I’m fucking PISSED because 2 days ago the weather forecast was BEAUTIFUL, all highs in the 70s and now for 3 of our days they’re forecasting highs in the 50s and I just want to cry. Never going at this time of the year again. I can deal with heat but not cold. Like I literally just want to cry, I feel so disappointed. I’ve done Disney in the cold once and it sucked and I never wanted to do that again. I knew we were gambling with January and I have to just suck it up for this time but never again.

Got my hair refreshed though. Looove the new colour!! Too bad it won’t get to be seen half the time at disney because I’m going to have to wear a fucking hat to stay warm!

Today I’ve been trying to get a yellow stain out of my Leia spirit jersey. Nothing is working, I’ve tried Grandma’s Stain remover, an Oxiclean soak, dawn dish soap, and a baking soda paste. Nothing is working and it’s right in the center front. I dunno what I got on it.

Just feeling like butter scraped over too much bread right now, as Bilbo would say. I still have so much to do for the trip and no energy to do it and I have a doctor’s appointment wednesday that is causing a huge amount of anxiety on top of that. I just kinda don’t even want to do the trip at the moment and if we didn’t have plans with other people I’d ask Disney to move it to March. Oh well.
