Titania Gown – Unused Concept

By the time I was doing this one I was really digging the bottom of the barrel of what was left of my unused concept art folder… by this point I only had very rough black and white sketches to pull from. This one was only drawn from the hips up, so I got to have a little fun with it.
Part of my inspiration for the colour scheme was a costume of Titania from Midsummer Night’s Dream. I always liked the colour combo and wanted to use it; plus deep teal velvet sleeves and blue velvet bodice, with cut out openings showing the heavily pleated, layered panels of white, pale yellow and silver chiffon. Sleeves are made of the same material, with the layers manipulated into shapes. A secondary skirt of strips of the same fabric is pulled into a gather in the front and hangs loose on the sides and back. Gold motif on the bottom of the skirt.
The floral headpiece was inspired by fish fins. I imagine them to be made of something very delicate. Gold crown holds the hair and floral pieces in place.

I always kinda pictured this as Queen Amidala’s last look… she’s older, and stepping down to enter a new phase of life.
