This was a nice black & white concept sketch that for whatever reason I kinda put off til the end. I think maybe I Just didn’t want to draw so much gathered fabric. LOL.
The upper part of the dress put me in the mind of Rey, so I decided to use Rey’s colour scheme as a starting point. For the lower panels and skirt I edged the colour warmer into some deep orange tones – still “earth tones” but more saturated.
I imagine pretty much the whole dress to be layers of chiffon gathered over a heavier weight fabric base to create the shapes. The skirt panel on the right without the chiffon is what the base fabric would look like; adding some of the gold metallic flaking to it for some sparkle.
Chronologically I placed this one just prior to the start of ROTS.
Once this was mostly done I started calling it the “sand dress” which I just thought was funny.
