So this one was based on a concept that was only from the waist up, but I loved this cool alien headpiece and wanted to use it…. so initially I tried to pair it with a full length concept that was a little more pedestrian; another nightgown concept. I thought pairing the two concepts together would be cool; however… it totally did not work.
I got the lineart finished and just… didn’t like it. So, I cut the head off, pasted it into a new file, and separated the two. The original body of this one can be seen on the Lilac Nightgown.
The headpiece and all its’ hanging beads just needed something with less visual information in the neck and shoulders; the nightgown with its sleeves was just too much. So I went back to the original concept and went with a sleeveless, almost backless dress. Still very full to hide a pregnancy but a little more daring than the nightgown.
I imagine the dress to be made in something a bit “harder” – maybe a heavier satin. It starts off as a pale, desaturated green, ombre-dyed into a darker, more saturated green towards the hem. The dress is gathered at the neckline and flares out to be very wide and long at the end. The matching collar is a separate piece; closes in the back over the top of the straps of the dress. At the back of the dress, attached to the back straps, is an attached, matching, pleated cape-piece that conceals the open back of the dress; similar to the back of a sack back gown. The gold cords hold the dress in place and keep it from slipping off the back.
The headpiece is copper with an attached matching veil and attached strands of beads.
