Hi guys! I’ve had my Leia hair tutorials spread out all over the place so I thought it was time to consolidate them into something more manageable. Below are all the tutorial/walk-throughs I’ve put together. I’ve done the buns a LOT of different ways so I’ll try to annotate what’s part of my current methodand what’s not.
2020 Tiktok Tutorials:
HERE is a link to a page containing all of the tiktok tutorial videos I did back in 2020. (Or you can just click on them in the thumbnails below!) These are all my current methods as of 2023!
2018 Video Version:
This video shows my current clip-in ponytails that I’m still using as of 2023, although I basically don’t use regular bobbie pins anymore (only the V-shaped hairpins.)
It also shows 2 older ways i did the buns – the old wefted extensions (which you can also see a photo tutorial of below) and the donut version. I don’t use either of these methods anymore.
All of the links below are to some older photo tutorials I did around 2013-2014. Some of these I still use, some I don’t, but including them in case they may help someone.
2014 Wefted Buns Tutorial — This tutorial covers my old method of doing the buns, using wefted extensions. As long as your hair is long enough to get into a pigtail above your ear, this method will work for most hair lengths!
(2023 note: I no longer use this method.)
2014 “Donut” Buns Tutorial
This one covers my alternate method — still using wefted extensions, but I used a hair sock bun in the center to stretch my extensions a bit further. This is a great method if you have longer hair and just want a quicker, easier, cheaper bun look.
(2023 note: I no longer use this method.)
2017 Clip-On Ponytail Bun Method – This is my CURRENT way of doing my buns — and this is not a full tutorial (yet!), this post just talks about the type of ponytail I bought and a quick overview of how they worked. I hope to do one a more in-depth one soon — but you can see these being done in the video above for now.
(2023 note: This is one of my current methods!)
2014 Ceremonial Bun – This is the way I’ve done the ceremonial hairstyle in the past — using a sockbun for a center and some extensions.
(2023 note: This is still basically how I do my ceremonial Leia hair!)
2014 Hoth Braids – I never got very good at the Hoth braids! But here’s how I used to do them – using some loose + some wefted extensions.
(2023 note: This is still basically how I do my Hoth Leia hair, but you can see the current method in the tiktok video at the top of this page.)
2014 Bespin Braids – Here’s how I do the Bespin braids – using a sockbun for the center of the bun and some wefted extensions for the braids/outside of the bun.
(2023 note: I’ve changed some things about this one! You can see the current method in the tiktok video at the top of this page.)
2014 Slave Bun –
This one is super similar to ceremonial and uses the same pieces.
(2023 note: This is still basically how I do my huttslayer Leia hair!)
2014 Rebel/Endor Braids –
How I used to do the Endor braids, using my own hair + wefted extensions.
(2023 note: This is still basically how I do my rebel/endor Leia hair!)
