Armor Pieces:
In 2009, my husband made a bodycast of me (during which I passed out!). He used it to sculpt the chestpiece, and then cast that in resin and painted it gold. (And worth the passing out because we used it for sculpting several other costumes pieces over the years, too).
The original version I wore at Dragoncon 2009 was mark 1. After Dragoncon he re-cast it and repainted it and mark 2 was much shinier and looked much nicer. It velcros onto the suit.
He also took casts of my arms to make new gauntlets, and made a new tiara and belt out of plastic, and used a new airbrush paint he got to paint them. The other gold pieces, since they were plastic and not resin like my chestpiece, didn’t take to the gold paint the same and were never quite as shiny as I would’ve liked. OH well!
Fabric Pieces:
The bodice I made using my fav bodice pattern – it is made of an outer fashion fabric layer of some kind of matte red fabric (don’t remember exactly what it was), and interior layers of cotton and canvas lining, with steel boning & it laces up the back. It also has built-in bra cups. The chestpiece & belt velcro on.
The bottoms I made using some pre-printed fabric I found on ebay, using a swimsuit pattern. When I cut the bottoms, I cut them extra “tall” at the top so there would be no gap between the bodice and the bottoms – the top hem of the star spangled bottoms come all the way up just past my natural waist.
Accessories:
The wig is my Zatanna wig, boots and lasso are from my previous Wonder Woman costume. I’d love to upgrade to a new wig one day.
History:
Still love this costume but don’t get to wear it often. It needs a few repairs.
As of 2025, I haven’t worn this much in recent years. I did get it out in 2021 for a tiktok video where I was actually surprised at how well it is still holding up. That being said I’m not quite the same size I was when I made this and if I want to wear it out out of the house, a new bodice will be in order. Also I’m pretty sure my pleather Wonder Woman boots are probably on their last leg like pretty much every pleather thing from the 2000s I’ve owned. Last time I had them out they were still in one piece, but I’m just holding my breath…

Please note that none of these costumes are for sale! This is my personal portfolio.
