Rogue – Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

Made for: Dragoncon 2014

Background: I came across some unused character concepts and artwork for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes by Thomas Perkins, which included Rogue as Ms Marvel. Had to make it!

Suit:

One of the reasons I instantly wanted to do this is because I’d already chopped my leotard pattern up to make the red/black Ms Marvel suit exactly like it. So I figured it’d be super easy! But I’d forgotten I’d taped it all back together and then chopped it up again for Batgirl LOL. So I had to draft new patterns based off of it.

I used white and green spandex; the white is doubled over so it’s not see-through. I hand-sewed the starburst (gold spandex) onto the front, then machine stitched it in place. Collar closes with hook-and-eye, scarf is stitched in front and snaps closed in the back.

Wig:

I was initially going to do my hair the same way I did Shi’Ar Rogue – but then I realized my Marasiah Fel wig would probably work better. I cleaned it up a bit but otherwise it was good to go.

Accessories:

The gloves I made – I decided to not use a glove pattern this time, but just traced my hand and put it together from there. They’re not perfect but they were far less of a headache to make than previous attempts. For the boots, I used my original Ms Marvel boots as a reference. I hand-sewed them to a pair of tights while wearing them, then machine sewed it in place. The mask is latex, from the same mold as my original Ms Marvel mask, just in green.

Final Thoughts:

This was a fun project to do. I’ve only gotten to wear it a couple of times which is sad, I need to find another excuse to get it out of storage and to a con.
