Patterns Used:
McCalls 2888 (I think)
Dress:
Well for some reason, finding fabric for this project was crazy. Like all the white fabric in my city had been picked clean!! I ended up deciding on using a grey, silver-flecked stretch velvet for the base of the dress, with an outer layer of white chiffon. I had to scrape up white chiffon where ever I could find it, but thankfully had JUST enough. The silver flecks on the under-dress show through the chiffon in the light, I like the effect.
I’m pretty sure I used the pattern above – just a basic dress shape with a wide neck. I lined the interior with a white knit, and it zips up the back. The sleeves I draped and attaching using the very last decent-sized pieces of chiffon I had LOL
I tried a new way of finishing the edge of the chiffon. I wanted something light, so I used a small zig-zag stitch along the edge, and then cauterized anything that was left on the outside of the zig-zag. I’m really pleased with the way it looks, it gave a slight wave to the hem. Finally, I added some crystal & glass beads I had on hand to the shoulder and upper sleeve area.
Accessories:
The sandals were some I had. I made the gloves out of a white stretch satin, and used a fancy stitch from one of my machines along the hand part, and then some gold beads along the edge. I dyed them veeeeeery lightly with some yellow dye – a gradient dye from the top edge. It’s not very noticeable, but I wanted to have a touch of a colour difference like they appear in the comic.
The chest plate is plastic, heat-formed and painted. The ears are Kevin’s Link ears – she has what looks more like LOTR elf ears, but I opted for the longer version because otherwise they would not be seen through my wig. (I took a lot of liberties with the costume, why stop now!)
Wig:
The wig is two Epic Cosplay wigs (WOW! Fast shipping!). I cut one of them apart, and sewed all of the wefts into the other one. I added some additional wefts to the front to help thicken up the braid. The horns are just costume horns I bought amazon, repainted, and sewn into the wig cap.
