Black Widow – Avengers (Comic Style)

Made for: Dragoncon 2010

Background: I bought this suit for several costumes – mostly I had wanted to get a new suit for my Selene costume for a while, as my original one never fit – I could also use it for a few other costumes, including Black Widow.

Suit:

I bought the suit from River’s Edge Dancewear, it’s a wet-look spandex. I decided to invest in it since I could get several costumes out of it, besides this, it’s also my Selene undersuit and my Julia (Cowboy Bebop) suit. And as of 2025, it’s still in great shape – you couldn’t say the same thing if I’d gotten a pleather suit instead LOL.

Belt:

The belt was made of metal discs painted gold, attached to a gold cord – it ties in the back. The “buckle” in the center was a wooden disc painted red, and I painted the spider on.

Widow’s Bites:

For my Widow’s Bites, my husband made the individual pieces out of wood and painted them gold. He attached them to large pieces of black elastic, and they close with velcro.

Wigs:

Both wigs I’ve used I bought on ebay, and I’ve used my own hair once. I like to switch it up, since she does too 🙂

History:

Overall a quick easy costume, looking forward to wearing it again. I’ve worn it a few times and it’s always been fun. Not sure it’ll ever come out of retirement at this point, but I did get to reuse the widows’ bites for my Dapper Day Black Widow costume in 2021!
