Dye test

Dye tests on my Peggy Carter fabric:

A few more Momocon pics

Here's a few more pictures that I didn't have uploaded yet when I posted last. Kevin's absolutely epic take on the classic "help I'm falling down the Marriott" photo: I loooooooooove these photos of my Belldandy Chase took. I TRIED to be good and wear sandals with Belldandy (I've gotten in trouble with hotels for not wearing shoes with it). But as you can see in this photo, they didn't ...

Peggy Carter fabric

I picked up fabric for Peggy while in Atlanta this weekend! Color is not 100% - but it matches up pretty well, both in texture and weight, to the actual fabric of my grandfather's WWII jacket, and since that's my main inspiration, I'm very pleased with it. Will probably do a test dye sometime soon and see if I can edge it a little bit greener. When my grandfather showed me ...

A bunch of questions

1: What was your first cosplay? Depends on how strict you want to get with the definition. I generally point to my Halloween costume of 1998, when I did a closet costume of Britan from my comic, SunDowner. If you say OCs don't count, then my 1999 Halloween costume of Quistis which was my first foray into sewing. Or if just wearing a costume to a convention is what you want to count, ...

DRAGONCON COMETH

Now Momocon is out of the way I get to dig into Dragoncon stuff. On our way out of Atlanta, we stopped by Gail K Fabrics, and I found some fabric I'm happy with for Peggy Carter. I'm beyond myself excited to tackle Peggy and Anne Boleyn - so I'll be jumping on those, first. I've really got to figure out where I was on Johanna and get her going ...

Meg thoughts

or, How to make your Uncomfortable Costume Comfortable in Two Easy Steps I was pretty well pleased with Meg, at the end of the weekend. But, the first time I wore it on Saturday, I made a huge, rookie mistake. I should have known better. I put my Meg wig on and everything felt fine. The problem with the wig cap being WAY too big was still there, so I ...

Momocon Pics – Round 1

Here's the pics from my camera and my phone, and a handful from Chase - haven't gotten all of his uploaded yet. We had a fantastic time! It was definitely a different crowd than we're used to at a convention, but Kevin was in Kevin Heaven. We were up before the sun on Friday and the trip in went really fast. We made a pitstop at the Engineer Guy for ...

FAQ Friday: Foam in Wigs

Today's question is... When you say you "built the wig up with foam," what do you mean? What kind of foam are you using? I just throw "foam" out there without really thinking about it, don't I? The kind of foam I use can be found at Joann's or Hancock, etc - it's a thick block of foam meant for home decor/furniture. You can find similar foam in things ...

One last Meg update

Last night I finally got to try everything on. Of course, I'm STILL tacking pleats.... but other than that the dress is done in that pic. I was testing out shoes so I was actually standing in one heeled shoe and one flat shoe LOL I was hoping the flat shoes looked best, but unfortunately, the more uncomfortable heeled sandals (from Hippolyta) looked better, so that's what I'm going with. ...

Meg Wig

I dug in last night and finished it. Well, almost, I'm going to recurl a couple of pieces tonight, but I'm calling it quits otherwise. Also, check out the snazzy new wig-working space I have, LOL. I was tired of having to work in the kitchen - our kitchen counters were the only place in the house that my wig stand clamp would fit on. So Chase added a small ...
