Yaaaay it’s only a 3 day work week.
Thankfully it seems like Luna is finally past being mad at me.
She’s been totally normal for a week now. We did go ahead and get a Feliway plug-in as suggested by a friend (thanks Summer!) and hopefully that will help keep her mellow.
She did do something last week she’s never done before:
That’s a little table I keep in my work office – I put my blanket I normally keep in my lap on it, and for 2 days straight she came up here and slept on it while I worked.
She also discovered that my organizer right under the window is a great vantage point for watching birds and squirrels.
In costuming news, I finished one sleeve!
I can’t remember if I talked about it last post, I did simplify the beading pattern. On the old Alleycatscratch LOTR site, there’s some sketches and notes people took when it was on exhibit years ago, and according to those notes, there should also be beading around the edge of each leave and on each vein. I did a couple like that to test, and I didn’t like it. It looked messy and chunky. I probably could have kept messing with it, bought some smaller bugle beads, or something… but I decided to opt for simplifying it to something I was happy with and get it finished. I mean the original also has embroidery on it which mine won’t/doesn’t because it’s printed, so it’s already been simplified one way. I kept the bugle beads only to the center vein of each leaf, and then the flat sequins on the vines.
Took these pics before steaming it. It was a bit wrinkled from being in a box for a couple of weeks. Steaming definitely helped.
So now I’m on to sleeve 2 and I’m definitely going to run out of sequins. Dangit. I thought 2500 sequins would be plenty??
I really got into a good groove Friday and Saturday. I’m already nearly halfway done with sleeve 2, but like I said, I’m going to run out of sequins. I ordered more Wednesday last week, but I feel like last time it took 2 weeks and some change to get to me, which if that holds true again I won’t be able to finish them this week like I hoped to.
But, since I have one sleeve done I can go ahead and get the lining attached to that and get that one sewn onto the under-dress. And I can go back to work on finishing the outer dress. The whole thing is just basted together at the moment.
I’m also tempted to not finish the hem of the outer dress because I feel like I read somewhere that none of her velvet dresses’ hems were finished?
Anyway, I’ve also ordered some dye to do a test dye for the Eliza fabric. That’s another thing I can spend this weekend doing – disassembling those curtain panels. I think it’s going to take a while.
Friday we had a nice surprise for the trash collectors.
Saturday morning we ran some errands. Farmer’s Market for some fresh eggs, and we also got this amazing apple bread. We also got a few things to eat as soon as we got in the car – some cinnamon biscuits, a tamale, and a churro LOL. Weird breakfast.
Ran by the hobby store. Chase and I were talking about getting a train set to go around the bottom of the old tree, but he was not interested in the train set I picked out:
It’s amazing.
So anyway we did some yardwork. Worked on my sleeves the rest of the day.
Sunday night we finished up our Hunt a Killer boxes.
Everybody picked correctly except Kristie. LOL
So yah goals this week – finish decorating for christmas, more yardwork, hopefully getting arwen closer to being finished so I can move on to other projects. Also recording some new tiktoks. Although boy do I miss the great engagement I had thanksgiving last year. It’s shit now.
