I think I’m going to have to change my weekly post date. Mondays have become too hectic. I like to post Mondays because the most stuff happens over the weekend, so I remember most everything. But I think I’m going to have to start looking at Tuesday or something. But I’m here to try to get a quick post out today.
I’ve still been slogging through the photoshoot pics. Both the white backdrop for me and the dressform photos too. I want to say it ended up being something like 800 pics? LOL. AND… I ended up not liking my Misato or Tinkerbell pics from Labor Day weekend. Soooo we took new ones yesterday, so add that to the pile.
In the Misato pics it looked like I had no neck. Which I had planned for – I thought it was a wig/jacket collar issue so I told Chase to keep an eye on it to make sure they were laying nicely. But as soon as I saw the pics I was like… no, this does not work. I realized the problem wasn’t the jacket collar, it was the dress collar. So last week I popped the collar off and determined the problem – first, the front panel of the dress was too big, which was allowing the collar opening to gape a bit, so I took it in at the shoulders. Then I lowered the collar in the front. It wasn’t perfect but it was a LOT better in the retake photos.
In the Tink photos I didn’t like how I had the wig on and I seemed to have the same face angle in every photo. So we retook those too. Had the wig on better this time and tried not to “same face” it. Haven’t seen those yet.
So yes, still slogging through the pics… but I do have a few to share today.
Yes I took pics of Garth in the white backdrop shoot LOL. I needed decent photos for portfolio, even though I didn’t make it. I still wore it so I needed evidence LOL.
And then I also got the Kate (B-52s) photos uploaded!
Really happy with how they turned out.
Shortened wig worked better too.
In other news I’ve been reorganizing costumes. We finally got a bed frame for the bed in the guest room/my work office, so that gave me room to store stuff underneath it. I cleaned out the closet in the guest room, made all kinds of room in there, and also brought a trunk up from our bedroom – it had quilts and props in it LOL.
I also threw stuff away like crazy. I threw away my Cammy (street fighter) bits that were left from 2001. It was the vinyl pieces of the gloves that fell apart, my leg stripes, the yellow “tie” pieces… I don’t have any of the rest of the costume, so I don’t know why I was hanging on to them. Into the trash!
I also threw away Scraps’ head. This was Ash’s Patchwork Girl of Oz head we made for her in 2004. It’s been floating around my oversized prop bin ever since. I texted Ash and asked if it was for her to be tossed, and Ash said yes. We never liked the construction of this thing – it was chicken wire, batting, duct tape and a fabric outside…. and a 5LB MILITARY HELMET.
It was so heavy on her poor head. But we thought we needed it in there to be sturdy and protect her from getting poked by chicken wire. After she gave me the OK to toss it, I decided to pull the helmet out and keep that part. And guess what? After I ripped the army helmet out… this thing stayed on perfectly fine. It didn’t need the 5 lb helmet in there at all!!
Live and learn I guess. We definitely learned from it because the very next year we made Stitch which was all foam and much easier to wear.
Oh and look! We got a new rug for our living room thanks to Nana and Kristie:
They got a new one and gave us their old one. I really like it! I just need Luna to leave it alone.
Trouble maker
SO yes it was my birthday this weekend. Saturday we had a little cookout at my parents which was nice because of course we haven’t really gotten to do that the past few months. We celebrated everybody’s birthdays we’d missed since March LOL. Had burgers and hot dogs, fruit pizza, played Cards Against Humanity, it was fun.
Sunday we did the pick up photoshoot and went to Target. YAY! I said I was going to start decorating for Halloween on my birthday but I didn’t really do it. I DID buy something new at Target and put it on the mantle with the spooky house I got at michael’s a couple of weeks ago, so it’s a start:
In terms of birthday presents, I got Twin Peaks complete collection (yay I can finally watch season 3), Midnight Sun (don’t @ me), Chase made a Dragoncon 2020 badge for me which I apparently don’t have a pic of on my phone, and he also got me this tiny cute Jiji lamp:
My main present was last night’s dinner. We have this expensive steak house that has a butcher shop you can directly from. So we got a really nice steak, twice-baked potatoes, and rolls from there this weekend and had it for dinner last night while watching the Twilight Rifftrax. It was so good I ate so much I thought I would burst LOL. And I have leftovers for lunch today.
Well that’s really all I have for today. Hopefully next week I have my Amidala, Misato and Tink pics uploaded, along with some of the dressform shot photos (they are taking forever to clean up – I kinda wish I’d dug the old paper backdrop out for them instead of the cloth one…). And I also need to get back to my costume projects. So hopefully back to normal next week.
