Friday was PUPPY DAY! I rode with my parents up to Nashville to pick up my new “little sister”!
I got off work early Friday and drove on up to my grandparents in Jackson. Met my parents there and hopped in their car for the rest of the ride to Nashville. Got there at 6:30 and walked into a puppy paradise.
My parents had to pick which one they wanted and it was not easy LOL They were all so cute.
The grown-up puppies were cute too!
They finally picked this little girl who fell asleep in dad’s lap.
And then she slept the whole 2 hours back to my grandparents house! She woke up to meet Mema.
I stayed at Mema’s, while my parents went on home with their new child LOL.
We talked about names the whole way home. They finally decided Sunday – her name is Skye!
So yeah I stayed at Mema’s, Chase was shooting in Nashville this weekend so I figured it was a good time to go up and do nothing for a day.
Saturday morning I got up and was greeted by Catty Bob.
We went and had breakfast with Rach&co who were ALSO going to Nashville for the weekend LOL. Then we came home and sat and I napped for a while, worked on some art stuff, and then eventually we went to dinner at Red Robin.
Then back home where I stayed up working on art stuff a while longer. It was a very lazy day.
Sunday I got on up and loaded up the car and headed towards home… I had a lot to do Sunday! I wanted to go home the “back way” but I can never remember the turns, so I relied on my phone’s GPS. My phone sent me some crazy way. It actually only took about 15 minutes longer than the interstate but it wasn’t the back way I was use to, and for most of it I had no idea where I was… until I figured out where I was and was like… wtf.
So I decided to go by my parents house first and see the puppy again!!

Then I headed on home, dropped off my stuff, changed clothes and went over to Jean’s to paint the 2nd (of 3) backdrops for the church play. We did the big one a week or so ago (I honestly can’t remember… LOL it was either last weekend or the weekend before). We had the 2 smaller ones left to do. We laid the first one out to get started and it was… much smaller than expected. Turns out when mom sewed the pieces together she’d sewed the wrong pieces together.
So we hopped in the car and took them back out to my parents house to get fixed… which wasn’t so bad because it meant seeing the puppy again!
She helped us measure and pin the fixed panels. She really liked the tape measure.
Then we headed on back to Jean’s and got one of them nearly finished. We’ll do the last one next Sunday.
Got home — only about 5 minutes after Chase got home too! Took a short nap and then got up and went and got take out for my parents and went BACK OUT to their house to eat dinner with them and so Chase could meet Skye, since he hadn’t yet.
We played for a long time and she got really hyper!
And then she wore herself out and fell asleep on Chase.
Then we ran to target to pick up some stuff for the week, got home around 9, I took a bath and went straight to bed. It had been a loooong day.
And now to back up and cover the sewing recap. Dug in deep Wednesday and Thursday to finish up Ursula.
The dress was basically done at this point, it was just figuring out the embellishments. I wanted to add some of my purple sparkle mesh to the skirt and somewhere up by the neckline. This pic was me just playing with different ideas.
I decided to do the sort of side-skirt look with the purple mesh and some of the black netting. Just hand-sewed it in place at the waistline and then gathered it back and stitched in place.
The neckline was more difficult but initially I envisioned a “collar” (built around the straps of the dress) of the purple mesh and framing the face in a “Evil Queen” kind of way. But every time I tried it, it just looked… totally 80s. So I dropped it and instead draped it around the neckline with no gathering.

Well, almost. I have one little tab of purple vinyl to sew onto the tentacle belt to cover the hook and eye. And then I really need to put it on the actress and check fit. I’m thinking it’s going to fit fine – I’m just concerned about the hem. Scroll back up and see the first pic I posted of it in this post and look at the hem – it’s well off the floor. Then suddenly in the later pics it’s dragging the floor?! I don’t think it’s the fabric stretching. I need to measure my dressform and see if maybe it settled down a bit — I’ve been having to move it in and out of the den every night because Luna wants to eat it. So I’m thinking it has something to do with the form and not the dress. Hopefully. I mean if I need to take it up again it’s not a big deal.
Luna is absolutely obsessed with that mesh. She tried to eat it when I used it for Tink so I knew to watch her here. I can’t leave her alone with it. The other night I got so fed up with her trying to sneak up on the dress and nibble that I took the gathered section I’d done for the collar and put it around her neck like a collar.
And instead of trying to get out of it, she just tried to eat it.

I can’t even throw the scraps of it away in the garbage can because she’ll try to eat them. I have to gather up scraps and take them downstairs LOL
Just one new Padme today.
This one was based off ROTS concept art. My headcanon for this became that this is an AU Padme who stabbed and killed Anakin on Mustafar, went back to Coruscant, became head of the senate and raised her children in a peaceful galaxy.

I haven’t talked about this exciting development yet. And I’m still not going to. But here’s a hint in a random story from yesterday.
So I’m leaving Mema’s, already driving out of her neighborhood, and I brought up Siri on my phone and said “Shuffle all music” — which I tell her to do pretty often because it’s easier to do that when driving than trying to pick up my phone and go to the music app and find the shuffle button.
Siri replies, “Calling; Disney’s All Star Music resort at 1801 Buena Vista Dr—” and thats when I grabbed the phone and turned it off before she could actually CALL a Disney resort instead of playing my music?! Like how did she get Disney’s out of Shuffle? I mean I can see “all music” and “all stars music” — I think Siri just has Disney on the brain much like I do.
