This weekend was busy.
Friday night was more work on the house, I got a little sewing in, but mostly it was getting ready for Saturday morning’s yard sale.
Saturday we were up at 6AM. Chase ran and put the signs out and got breakfast. We’d put on the ad that we were open at 7 but of course people started showing up before that.
We had a Chewbacca balloon on the mailbox!
We didn’t make just a ton of money. Maybe like $40 which was decent – considering that otherwise we were just going to take every bit of this to donation otherwise. Everything was leftover is going. But we managed to offload what was left of the spray paint, a bunch of dishes, kitchen stuff, etc.
After we cleaned it up, I took a quick nap and then headed out to met Ash. We went to see RBG!
It was so good!
Then we decided to take the rest of the day off from working on the house. We were both pretty spent from being up early and in the heat all morning. So I got a decent amount of sewing done.
I decided to take the interfacing out from about the waist down. Got that removed and the seams sewn back together. Then Chase helped me look at the shapes of the collar panels and we decided both were too big – so I took those up/tweaked the shape, I think it’s good now. Finished up the back edge of the collar and finished getting the sleeves together, and closed up the arm openings.
I started getting the sleeves pinned in place but that’s where I stopped for the day. I was hoping to work on it more Sunday but never got the chance – I’m hoping to get them on tonight, and maybe even get the hem done? Then all that would be left is pressing it and… guess who doesn’t have a normal ironing board right now? Remember mine broke? I threw it away a couple of weeks ago, so all I have is the mini one, so it’s a pain in the butt to press this thing. So I think I’ll go ahead and do what I HAVE to do now on the mini ironing board and wait and do the final pressing after I get a decent ironing board.
Then this part will be done – I’ll just have the underdress, jewelry and hair to deal with. But after I finish them I’m rolling back around to TFA Leia to finish the new underdress on that – it’s just a lot of handsewing on the hem and neckline. But I want to wear it to ABC so I need to get it finished. I don’t plan on wearing Crait til Dragon Con.
Sunday we got up and did some house stuff – Chase walked around and took any nails and screws out of the walls, I deep cleaned the hall bathroom. Then we had lunch with Nana and Kristie to discuss logistics of moving in with them while we’re in between houses. Then a few errands – I really wanted to go to ikea to get some of their cheap but nice looking cardboard boxes with the lids that we could store like, our bathroom stuff in while showing the house.
After errands were done I had a quick nap before getting up to get into Leia for Dreamnight at the zoo!
I haven’t been to the zoo in forever! We got there early enough that we were able to run go check out the new hippo exhibit we hadn’t seen yet.
Baby Hippo!
Ringo!
It was a really fun event. Chase took a bunch of pics and video but hasn’t given them to me to upload yet… here’s a group shot from Tammy:
Then we ran home, grabbed dinner and just went to bed because we were exhausted.
Tonight I’ve got to do some more cleaning and organizing — and I have sewing goals. Gonna try to do a little video of Crait Leia updates on my instagram story.
Tomorrow we’re going to start taking stuff over to Nana and Kristie’s. Which will be great to get all of that out of the way!
Quick art dump!
Finally tackled picnic Padme. Here’s the old one.
And new!
So all that’s let for AOTC is the wedding dress.
And dressing gown from ROTS:
Something about her face is off in this one. I’m probably going to revisit it.
It’s weird because one time I look at it and I’m like, it’s great, it looks good. Then I look at it again and it looks terrible. And then again and it’s fine. So weird.
Going to focus on some Clone Wars this week – red dress, maybe the one with the fan headdress?
