I have Tinkerbell and Peter Pan pics! But first let’s back up to Friday.
I had Friday off, with the intention of maybe going up to the con, but definitely for finishing Kevin’s Peter Pan. As it turned out it was lucky I had that day off because we ended up having to have a dishwasher repairman come by (our 1.5 year old dishwasher decided to stop working, wtf), and we had a contractor outside working on our new gutters. So Kevin and I just hung out at the house all day just to open the doors and sign stuff for various repair people.
I got Kevin’s Peter Pan on him first thing that morning and thankfully everything worked fine!! He did need an undershirt, so I used his Link dickie. The only thing that needed fixed was the collar on his tunic – I ended up sewing it in place to keep it from flipping up in the back.
Then onto Saturday. Con day!
I started out the day slow, because I didn’t think there was a reason to rush. Well that was a mistake. I got Kevin’s tunic pressed and ready for him, then went to start my makeup. I had bought some lower eyelashes for this costume — and could NOT get them to work. Ended up getting glue all over my face and my makeup all messed up – I had to wash it all off and start all over!! So I had a plan B for the lower eyelashes, that didn’t work either, I ended up just saying forget it. So I wasn’t happy with my makeup at all š
Then I went to put my tights on and they had a big run in them. They didn’t the other night, and I didn’t have another pair to switch to š
But thankfully the weather ended up being nice! It was 70 degrees and comfortable outside. Usually it’s nice leading up to MidSouthcon and then the temps take a dive right before. So that was nice!
Chase dropped us off at the door and I got a few pics of Kevin while waiting on him to park and join us…
Then we went inside and Chase got my wings on me and on… and then promptly lost the remote š We went and got registered…
Hung around for a bit, checked out the dealer’s room and artists, took some pics. Chase took my wings off me and carried them while we went thru the dealer’s room so that was nice.
Then we decided to head out — which I will talk about at the end of this post — but Chase got a few more pics of us on our way out.
And there must be boomerangs.
We got a few pics outside, too, but just iphone ones.
And then we took my wings off me and headed to get lunch!
And one more boomerang in the yard.
Then we ate, had a little nap, and then Ash came over and we drove out to Millington to see mom’s play, which was really cute,
Sunday was a day of rest and doing a few little things around the house, and dinner with my parents since we hadn’t done that in a while. Chase and I also watched Coco Sunday night which was really cute.
Overall I was pretty happy with Tink. I think I need to trim the wig a little, and Chase and I are planning a revamp of my wings before ABC in the summer. But those were my only nitpicks… otherwise it was pretty darn comfortable and a LOT of fun to wear. I was really happy with Kevin’s Peter Pan, too. He was comfortable in it which was the important thing.
Now let’s talk about bad. I have SO been looking forward to MidSouthCon, for months now. I was SO excited about these new costumes and SO happy with Tinkerbell! But after just a few hours I was ready to leave. The crowd, the talking, all of it just got overwhelming for me and I have to chalk it up to social anxiety… and I feel really disappointed in myself. I wanted to stay longer. As soon as we left I regretted giving into giving in to it.
So going forward I really need to focus on being better about that. I’m not going to let myself do that again. If I need to decompress, I can go do that in the car and then go back in. Or find a corner. But I hate working so hard on a costume, being at an event I’ve so looked forward to, and just letting it slip away. It’s so frustrating.
Anyway, I just needed to vent about that, and make myself the promise to do better.
I should have Tink up in the portfolio tomorrow, in the meantime, our MidSouthCon pics are here!
