I had a very nice Christmas break! Though I had planned to get a lot of sewing done and the sewing was very minimal… but sometimes you need a day of laying on the couch doing absolutely nothing, right?
I had Friday and Monday both off, and Chase got off early friday and we went up to Jackson to spend the evening with my grandparents, and Cath and Rach!
I face swapped a picture of me and Catty Bob and Catty Bob looks very bishoujo…
We out to eat and spent the whole time obsessively refreshing my phone for updates on Carrie Fisher š Cath and Rach gave me the game “Vampire” so we played that and Phase 10 into the night. (I also got a Snape Pop!)
Saturday morning we got up and ready and headed off to Christmas lunch with the whole family.
We had a huge family game of Left Right Center — it was Rachel’s idea and Rachel WON!
Then we all opened presents. David got a basketball hoop hat which resulting in everybody throwing plastic balls at David.
Poor Catty Bob wedged himself behind the tv in my grandparents’ bedroom:
I got some gift cards, some sweaters, a selfie stick, a my little pony (LOL), some cute pants, a wonder woman ornament, gloves, a scarf… I’m sure I’m forgetting something.
We headed home and went by Kroger (which wasn’t as crazy as I thought it would be), picked up some stuff for dinner and went home to cook. I made spaghetti sauce as a present for my parents so I spent a while on that. Chase and I open presents Christmas Eve night, so after we ate dinner, we opened presents!
I’ve been wanting a stuffed Stitch for ages and beg for one everytime we’re at WDW and Chase finally got me one! He’s so cute!
A book about the 64-65 World’s Fair I’ve been wanting, art supplies I needed, a portfolio, Instax film, a cute Jim Shore Mickey and Minnie, a Sloth shirt and socks, Dumbledore and Harry pops, magnetic poetry, a mini colouring book!
Sunday morning we got up and headed over to my parents. I wore my new Sloth shirt and made use of my new selfie stick.
We had breakfast and opened presents!
I told mom I liked the shape of their tree this year and she gave me a look like WTF. But I really did, it looks old fashioned somehow?
I got a Sloth calendar, Ariel and Belle pops, Joann and Mood gift cards (yaaaay), some boot socks, a cute sewing print for my office! Again I’m sure I’m forgetting something.
Then we headed off to lunch at Kevin’s. More selfie stick stuff and snapchat silliness ensued.
This is Kevin face-swapped with another photo of Kevin:
And this is me also face-swapped with that photo of Kevin:
Ash said it looked like something from “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”
Kevin was in charge of Roomba-ing the chairs at the dining room table, look how excited he is!
Then since it was really nice outside I asked Kevin to give me a tour of the backyard. (As though I don’t know the backyard, I just wanted to get him to do something besides napping on the couch). We walked down the patio and I said “You gotta tell me what we’re looking at here, you’re the tour guide.”
He pointed at the little creek and said “That’s the creek.” I said, “What’s the name of the creek?” He said “I don’t know!” (getting annoyed with me)
I said “Make it up, creeks are supposed to have names.”
So he said, “Creek Kevin!” (again, annoyed)
So we walked on down to the lake and he said “That’s the boat.” I said “What’s the name of the boat?” He, still annoyed, said “The SS Kevin!”
We walked over the little bridge back towards the house and he said “Here’s the bridge.” And I said “Well what’s the name of the bridge?”
“Bridge Kevin!”
Then we went up near the basement and I pointed to a little area under the patio where they had some stuff stored, and asked what it was. He said, “That’s the corn crib.”
I said “What is a corn crib?”
He said “It’s a place to store stuff.”
I said, “Why is it called a corn crib? I don’t see any corn.”
“I don’t know!!”
“Make it up!”
“It’s a place to store corn!”
“But I don’t see any corn.”
“I don’t know!”
“Go ask your dad what a corn crib is then.”
So we walked back up onto the patio and he asked Tom why it’s called a corn crib and came back with “It just looks like a corn crib!”
I said “Oh, ok.”
Then Kevin said, “And that concludes the tour!” and flounced back inside, it was hilarious.
Then I got him to take me on a tour of basement, and he showed me his favourite bottle of wine:
After way too much good food we opened presents. Kev got a Stretch Armstrong from Nana:
I got a calendar and by total surprise an Apple watch, WAT. Still messing with it to figure out all it can do. I need a band that makes it look Star Wars-y but haven’t found anything.
Then back over to my parents house for the last little bit of Christmas with Jean and Ash and Gabe. I got a Stormtrooper snuggie and a sloth bag for my purse!! Truly it was the year of the Sloth. I am ensconced in sloths.
Kes standing on dad:
Yesterday we were suuuuuuuper lazy. I played sims all morning and watched DVR-ed stuff. Finally around 2 we got up and decided to venture to Ikea because Chase needed a new chair for his desk. I’ve been there 3 times so far but yesterday was by far the craziest and we stood in line to check out with this chair for close to half an hour. Then we had an early dinner and I finally managed to sew a little but I have no photos – I’ll take some tonight for a post tomorrow.
Then around 9 we decided we were hungry and ordered pizza, watched Stepbrothers, and thus ends the Christmas weekend of 2016.
I’m off work Thurs-Mon. YAY! DO ALL THE SEWING!
