So, I’m trying to play Sims 4 again. I’ve had it for a while, and I just have not been able to get into it at all. I play for like, 10 minutes and then turn it off. (I feel like I ought to just uninstall it and put Sims 3 back on my computer.)
But I really felt like playing so I have dug in and stuck with it. One of my issues is camera/directional controls… I’ve had constant trouble getting used to them and still tend to try to use the Sims3 controls for everything. Just late night I had to google “how to rotate furniture in sims 4” AGAIN.
I’ve been playing with the same family for a few days now, and here is their tale.
Ian & Linda Pitstain moved into a little house in the desert. Ian had a weird looking face, strangely skinny arms and legs and giant shoulders, and he worked as a dishwasher in a restaurant. He secretly wants to be a world famous violinist. Linda is a shapely lady, who got a strange looking boob job several years ago and a “I want to talk to your manager” haircut. She wants to have a big family!
So Ian and Linda have their nice little two bedroom house with a fireplace and a baby bassinet all ready for baby #1, who arrives very shortly! They name their little boy Ina Garten Pitstain. As soon as Ina Garten has grown into a child, another little bundle of joy comes along – a little girl named Shaquille (I wanted to name her Shaquille O’Neal but it wouldn’t fit.) Next came another girl, Platinum Club Pitstain.
By this time, Ina Garten had grown up into a wanna-be romantic teenager. They’d also run out of space for everyone. Ian’s salary as a dishwasher just wasn’t cutting it, and many nights he slept on the park bench outside their house so that one of the kids could sleep on the couch. Their power got cut off once, and their very basic appliances kept breaking. Ian learned how to fix everything and got pretty good at it. The one time he tried to hire an Emergency Repair Service, the repairwoman showed up, didn’t fix anything, and still charged him $102. They couldn’t afford to do that again! On top of all this? Linda was pregnant AGAIN.
One day, the toilet broke. The only toilet in the house. The entire household had to hold it until Ian got home from work to fix it. When he did arrive home, he was exhausted and hungry, and Ina Garten was in the shower. Ian realized he had to get that toilet fixed immediately, so he walked right into the bathroom to work on it. Ina Garten, in the shower, got very embarrassed and told him to get out! Ian didn’t have time for that, so he went right back in to work on it. Ina told him to leave again, but Ian wouldn’t give up. He had to fix that toilet!
Finally he just told Ina to get out of the shower already. He’d been in there for well over an hour. Ina got out of the shower, Ian fixed the toilet, and then went to get a bite to eat. He discovered Ina Garten in the kitchen as well… and he was dying.
Turns out Ian had embarrassed him so badly by walking in on him in the shower so many times, that Ina Garten was now LITERALLY DYING OF EMBARRASSMENT. (I’ve had it happen before, but that was on purpose, this was not.)
Linda immediately ran over to the Grim Reaper when he appeared. You see, Linda used to spend a lot of time at the gym picking fights with people, back before they had kids, and while there, she’d made friends with the Grim Reaper (who was also there working out and taking a shower). But, she forgot what she was doing, and after crying for a minute, turned around and yelled at Shaquille about something. Ina Garten could not be saved.
The entire family went into a tailspin of sadness. Ian was beside himself. He went nuts and sold everything in the house that wasn’t important – mirrors, toys, dressers, bookshelves – so that he could scrap up enough money to buy a computer and afford to adopt. He managed this, and named their new baby boy Ina Garten II Pitstain (Who grew up to only wear a Yoda mask at all times.)
Not long after, Linda gave birth to The First 48 Pitstain. Now with not much left in their house, too many children and Ian’s meager earnings, they realized something must be done. Ian worked extra hard, staying up late to get a promotion to Caterer, and Linda got a job as an entertainer. However, Ian was getting old. He was at the point of retirement, and exhausted.
But things were going to get better for the Pitstains! Ian entered a lottery and WON! They won $200,000 simoleons. They immediately moved out of their rundown, half empty house into a large 5 bedroom mansion on the other side of town. Ian was able to retire, and Linda quit her job – just as she found out she was expecting again. They spent what was left of their money on exercise equipment for Ina Garten II (who was into fitness), a woodworking table for Shaquille, laptops for all the kids, and most importantly… a $15,000 violin for Ian, who always wanted one.
The kids are still having to fight over beds, and Shaquille and Platinum Club are moody teenagers constantly arguing with each other, but life had definitely improved. Here’s hoping what’s left of their money holds out, with no one working……
