Merry Christmas 2010, a week later

Sorry I haven’t posted since last week! Obviously Christmas kept me busy, and then it was back to work. I have the next two days, the weekend, and Monday off. I’m super excited about that. I’m staying home, chilling, doing some artwork, some puzzles and some sewing.

So here’s the recap.
Friday was Christmas with the bigger side of my family. It actually went by much faster than usual. Food was good – and I asked my grandmother for her broccoli casserole recipe, since I had to make it that night for Christmas lunch the next day. She ended up not making hers for Friday and gave me all her ingredients! Score!
So it was loud and crowded and noisy and fun like always. I got some cute clothes, OPERA GLASSES (omg, they are AWESOME.), fabric and pin cushions from mood, a Tiger hat, an awesome metal Wonder Woman sign, lots of gift cards, Princess & the Frog, pajamas, and the little sort of things my grandma always gives. We were actually back home before dark which was great (we had an hour drive back home.) Went to eat with my parents and finished Kevin’s gift and wrapped a few more things.
Here’s a few pics from Friday:
The mess:

And, beer:

My grandmother had 12 cases of beer sitting in her foyer. She let each of the boys in the family pick a case to take a home.

Saturday morning Chase, Indy and I had our Christmas together. Indy opened her presents first and then insisted on “helping” us with ours. Chase got me so much awesome stuff – I should have made a list as I opened so I wouldn’t forget. But her got me this awesome Disney “Design” artbook, some dvds, some storage baskets, picture frames, a scarf, a cd I’d wanted (I used to have it but broke it before I got it transferred) and a cute bag. Here’s some pics of some of it:
I LOVE this Katie Cook print. You can see how LONG it is… totally geeked over it.

Couldn’t get a good shot of this Doctor Who print, but I’m in love with it:

He got this Han shirt and this Han and Leia pair custom made for me by someone off etsy. How awesome is that???

The Adam Hughes Zatanna statue! Isn’t she gorgeous?

Joe Corroney print! I love this one, it has somehow ended up hanging in our bathroom for now (I bought a frame for something else to hang in our hall bath. It was too small, but fit this perfectly, so we hung it in there for now. It’ll get moved later!)

I know I’m probably forgetting something. I got him an AppleTV (it’s great. we can watch netflix on our tv in the bedroom now!), Legos, a scarf, some blurays, and lots of food-stuff. Oh and a Darth Vader spatula. LOL

After that we packed up Indy and headed to my parents:

I’m never going to remember everything… but got the usual fruit and stocking stuffers – handwash, toothbrushes, soap (I’ve always gotten that stuff in my stocking! soap and fruit! LMAO). The Beauty & the Beast artbook, and also it on blu-ray. Toy Story 3, Tim Gunn’s book, Steve Sansweet’s book (the one of parts of his Star Wars collection!), a book called “Matched” (which mom hadn’t read, she got it for me to loan to her LOL), Paul Frank pajamas, more storage boxes, picture frames, and best of all a new comforter set for the bed!!!

(As soon with the new curtains we got we gift cards Sunday. Now to get a bedframe, a headboard, and a new lamp. One day it’ll look like a grown-up’s room… LOL)

Oh and my mom found this calendar that was so funny. It’s photos of dogs dressed as celebrities/characters. It’s hilarious. The front is a dog dressed like Spock. It made my day.

My parents had gotten Chase this rolling camera gear bag. They took the bag out of the amazon box and put a Dora the Explorer backpack in it instead. It was hilarious. I have a pic of him holding it up but don’t have it on flickr for some reason. And then – my mom had wanted some fingerless gloves. Dad went and bought some plain old cheap work gloves and cut the fingers off. We were all roooooollling when she opened them. (He had the real ones in another box.)

So then after stuffing ourselves on breakfast we headed over to my cousin’s for Christmas with my other side of the family. OH MY GOSH. The food was SO good. My broccoli casserole actually turned out pretty good for my first time making it. We had these tenderloins, plus spaghetti, and this cranberry-apple casserole my parents made, and rolls… oh my gosh I felt like I needed to be rolled home. Anyway – got a cute wallet and some cash from my grandparents, and an island calendar (so I can wish I was there instead of freezing my butt off here), some more cash and a gift card from my aunt & uncle and Kevin.

But my highlight was waiting on Kevin to open his present. We set it on the front doorstep and had my uncle go “find” it and tell Kevin there was something sitting out there for him.

I think I posted the picture of the little trunk, didn’t I? Well to go back – I told Kevin his robe I’d been making for him (he knew about it, he picked out the fabric) had DISAPPEARED! I couldn’t find it anywhere. I told him I’d had to buy him some chips and dip for Christmas instead.
So anyway, I found that little trunk at Hobby Lobby. I painted the Madame Malkin’s logo on the front with a gold paint pen (pretty pleased with how it turned out). I put his robe inside, wrapped in red velvet. On top, wrapped in tissue paper, was a letter from Madame Malkin herself. I wrote it out and Chase printed it up all fancy-looking, and we dyed it in tea to make it look more like parchment. We even sealed it with a wax stamp. (It said something along the lines of her apologizing for taking the robe from me but she had to check it to make sure it met her standards, and she finished it up and added his Gryffindor patch.)
After that we wrapped it up in brown parcel paper, and I wrote his “address” on the front. We stamped a couple of fake postal “stamps” on there, and some other random things. We dirtied up the edges with some charcoal, and tied the whole thing up with twine.

Here he is holding the package:

And his address:

Reading the letter:

And posing!

He and I took it all back to his room and he said to me, very quietly, “This is really cool. I must be really special.” Mission accomplished!!

So anyway – we headed back to my parents house and Ash and her parents came over.
Ash got me this AWESOME sewing kit. She went to the fabric store and got me a TON of essentials! Thread, needles, elastic, snaps, grommets!! And a mini sonic screwdriver keychain! šŸ˜€ Her parents got me some comfy socks and the new Sleeping Beauty dvd set!

Josh & Melissa came over Monday night and we got to see their baby!!! They’re adopting a little boy, and they just got his pic and he’s adorable. I’m SO excited for them. He’ll be here by April at the earliest. Melissa got me the most awesome mug ever – it has Henry VIII and his six wives on it, and when you put hot water in it the wives disappear LOL

All in all it was a great weekend and a great Christmas. We spent some gift cards Sunday – I got the Sims 3 World Adventures expansion, though can’t play it yet because my video card is messed up.

Santa Indy says Merry Christmas šŸ™‚

Oh, and somewhere along the way I picked up this giant Iphone.

Not sure where that came from.
