DRAGONCON 2007 PICS!

Well, actually I’ll start on Thursday 🙂
Thursday morning was a mess, I was running every which way trying to finish packing, finish a few non-costumey projects (Costume Monkey shirts for the girls) and getting the van loaded before Chase got home at noon.

Almost done packing on thursday morning.

My boxes and stuff, almost packed.

My cousin Catherine was volunteering this year. She needed to actually be there Thursday morning but was unable to make it, so she was either going to ride with us (if we had room in the van), or follow us (if we didn’t). She got to my house a little before Chase, and helped me finish loading the van — and lo and behold we did have room for her! Hooray!

We got into Atlanta a little later than planned – around 9. We got unloaded and got everything up to the room (sixth floor, whoo!) and then tried to go register, but they had already capped the line for the night, so we just decided to do our regular thing and get up early the next morning for our badges.

So Friday morning we got up – Cath headed out with us, because she had to pick up her volunteer badge. I put on Marion, which I didn’t plan on wearing long. We got over to registration and to our surprise there were already quite a few people there. We’ve always gotten up early on friday when registration opens, and just walk right up and get our badge. This year it took an hour! I spent half the time waiting with 5 other unlucky Wil-Z last names. We had all planned on going to eat together before Cath went to her volunteer duties, but it took so long she had to leave. Chase and I went on and had our usual friday morning buffet breakfast.

Here’s my Marion costume:

Then we went upstairs and rested for a little while, and Chase got into his Han costume, and me into my new Endor poncho Leia. Then we went in search of the Rebel Legion table. It was right outside the exhibit hall, so while we were at the table we took turns going in and checking it out once it opened. Chase got me a Beauty * the Beast shirt 🙂

Then we grabbed some lunch in the food court and went back upstairs to eat &; change. I was dying to put on funeral Padme (LOL get it), so I got into that and Chase changed into regular clothes, and off we went again.

But it was so crowded, I stayed downstairs for maybe 20 minutes before Chase & I decided to go outside and take some pics of it before I took it off.

So that was it for Padme. I was excited to wear something else new, and Chase wanted to put Wolverine on, anyway, so I went and put Rogue on, then we went and met up with Joe and Danielle for some X-Men movie shots 🙂

Yep, so that’s my Chinese sweatshop Rogue costume. I didn’t make it, wouldn’t have had time. It was pretty fun to wear with the group, though!

They were supposed to look like they were fighting, but it looks more like they’re giggling at each other. And one shot of me and Chase together.

After that we went into the dealer’s room for a long time, then went and had dinner over at the food court again. I decided to put Marasiah Fel on next — I hadn’t had the chance to put the whole costume on before that, it just barely got finished to be wearable, and I wasn’t even sure I wanted to wear it at all. But I put it on and Chase said he liked it, that, and if I didn’t wear it then, I wasn’t sure when I’d have time to wear it again. So off we went again! Cath and I wandered around by ourselves for a while. I don’t remember what we did, exactly, but we met back up with Chase at the Marriott a while later. We decided not to go to Evening at Bree — since Ash and Melissa were not there yet, we decided to save it and all of us go to the Yule Ball on Sunday.

First one is trying to do the pose from the cover, just backwards and a little blurry LOL

We hung out at the bar for a while, then went up to the 10th floor for the MidSouth Garrison meeting. Once it sort of ended and turned into a mingle-session, Cath and I split and I went and put Wonder Woman on, because there were all kinds of superheroes wandering around.

Melissa & Ash called around 3AM to say they’d gotten in. We didn’t answer my phone – we were knocked out, and we figured if they called BACK, they were in trouble. If not, they were here safe and sound. They didn’t call back. LOL.

Thus ends Friday!
