when i went to alaska

I never expected to get so many replies to my rant yesterday. I never expected *A* reply from it.
I just wanted to go ahead and say a huge thank you to everybody who wrote me about it.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I want to take another cruise. My grandparents took me on an Alaskan cruise 2 years ago, and it was awesome. It was two weeks long, and the ship was *incredible.* We were on the Dawn Princess, I think it was. Our room was little and cramped, but everything else made up for it. I can’t remember all the cities we went to, but I know we were in Juneau for a while (the only time I got McDonald’s the whole trip! We also had to go to Wal-mart to buy a new suitcase for all the stuff we’d bought, and I saw the Barbie X-Files dolls for the first time and really wanted them…), Denali, and… uh, some other places.

We got off the ship about eight days into it, and got on a bus that took us to Anchorage. We spent the night there (didn’t get to see much of it), and the next morning boarded a train that took us to… uh… another big city (hey, this was 2 years ago, I’m amazed I can remember as much as I have so far). The train was really cool. It was 2 stories, and the upper story was pretty much just windows, with booths around. Bottom floor was the dining area. Since there were 3 of us, we had to sit with some guy who was traveling alone. Halfway into the trip he and my granddad moved to an empty booth, and the guy dropped a bottle of Jack Daniels in the seat. I was like, “Here, dude, you dropped this.” It was really funny. Guess you had to be there.

Anyway, in Denali we got to go to Jeff King’s sled dog place. It was really cool….. that was my favourite part! We got to hold puppies!!! PUPPIES!! We did some other side things too… on one of our last days there, I decided not to go on another gold mining trip, we’d already done one earlier in the trip and it was cold out. My grandparents went and I stayed in the hotel room, and watched that Mark McGuire guy hit his big… homerun… ya know what I’m talking about? Anyway.

The ship was my fav out of all the places we stayed, there was so much to do on it. And I was pretty much the ONLY kid on board (there may have been one or two others), mostly it was grandparents. So I got the gameroom and arcade all to myself šŸ˜€ They also had a theater. I watched Lost In Space, Man in the Iron Mask, and part of Good Will Hunting onboard. They played Titanic, which I REALLY, REALLY wanted to watch (so I could tell everyone I watched Titanic onboard a cruise ship!), but it didn’t start until midnight, which means the only parts worth seeing didn’t start until one. And since I was usually conked out by nine while on the ship, I didn’t make it (something about being on that ship made me really sleepy)

Anyway, I’d love to take another. As much as I enjoyed the first, I would have enjoyed it 10 times more if I’d had a friend along. I mean, I love my grandparents to death, but I didn’t think either of them wanted to try the ten mile wilderness horse back ride.

I’ve been trying to get my parents to go on one. Me and my parents, and Ash and her parents. I’d like to go back to Alaska, even if I’ve already been there once! Like I said, there was a lot I didn’t get to do or see! And I know my parents would enjoy it.

This time I want the bigger room, tho. With like, a real bed, ya know? And a waiter who doesn’t harass me because I don’t like pizza
